It would have been better if you'd had the two heads at the top the same height and same proportion to help compare the two.
btw I'm incredibly jealous of your drawing ability

This is one of my favourite tutorials so far. For a while, I've been re-searching of a method how to draw the proper variety of ears.
I read the book, tried sometimes on my own and I wondered about how the others drew the ears. Is there any other tutorials you'd recommend to? Either internet or books.

The reason is that your expectations of the outcome are higher than your skill level.
You need to practice in order to maintain the hand-and-eye coordination needed to render a drawing that equals your expectations.
Nothing that is great happens over-night.
Just be patient. Work through the frustrations. The frustration you are feeling is the direct cause of people that stop drawing.
You will improve over time. Its inevitable.
So draw EVERYDAY....no matter what it is....no matter whether its good or not.
We all have to start from somewhere and work our way up.
keep on drawing! ^____________^

Thanks alot for posting this, it has really helpt me so far!!
There's one thing though I can't wrap my mind around, and that is the heights of the ear... In another tutorial I read that the bottom of the ear should be at the same height as the bottom of the nose, and the top of the ear at the same height as the eyebrows. On the second head you have done that, but on the first one, the top of the ear comes to the eye height. Is there something I'm missing? (I'm just fascinated by these things, and want to learn more about it)
Can you help me out here? Thanks!

actually one of the most useful tutorials ive found on the face so far
thanks for the post! i didnt know that the pupil progresses back in perspective as the angle of the face changes
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Snigom In reply to chyitiin [2008-10-25 18:33:47 +0000 UTC]
Thanks. Yes, its because even though the Pupil and iris bulge off the eye, the actual pupils are convex and are thus would disappear back into the eye
