FULL STORY:

The Blue Typhoon is in the middle of a fierce battle with Doctor Robotnik's robots. Tails, Amy, Chris, Cream, and Cosmo are on board, Sonic and Derek are trying to fend off the robots attacks, and Knuckles supports them using the Master Emerald from the Main Engine Room.

Suddenly, Robotnik activates a powerful energy shield, given to him by the Metarex. Sonic is caught in the shield and gets badly injured. The shield somehow causes the main engine to explode, and Knuckles is caught in that explosion. Tails, who is the captain of the Blue Typhoon, feels responsible for what happened.

"Chris, what's our status?" Derek asks urgently. "This explosion seems to have done serious damage to the main engine," Chris replies. "We have to maintain all the energy we have until Sonic and Knuckles recover, and we can fix the ship with the Master Emerald." Derek clenches his fist in anger and says, "Damn it... Tails, what do you think?" At first, there's no response. "Tails?" Derek and Chris turn to Tails, and see him on his knees, overwhelmed with shock. "Tails, are you okay?" Chris asks, concerned. Tails snap to attention and look up at Chris, forcing a smile. "Me? Uh, yeah. I'm okay, Chris." Derek, knowing that Tails is lying, says, “You sure, Tails?” Tails replies, still forcing a smile, “Yes. I’m fine, Derek. Don't worry.” Suddenly, Cream announces, "Oh no! We're getting a danger signal! What now?" At that moment, the little confidence Tails had left completely crumbs. "I'm not so sure the Typhoon can make it through another attack, Tails!" Chris says.

Tails suddenly breaks down, "I'm not worthy of being the Typhoon's captain! I'm just not!" In a fit of anger and frustration, Tails flees the bridge. "Tails, come back!" Cosmo says as she sees Tails entering the main hall. "Tails, stop!" Derek yells.

Cosmo runs after Tails and manages to catch his hand, "Tails, please wait!" Tails says in frustration, "How could I do something so stupid?" "Tails, you can't blame yourself for what happened," Cosmo replies. "But because of me, Sonic and Knuckles got injured. Let’s face it; I don't have the right to call myself a captain of anything!" Tails says in sadness. "How can you say that, Tails? Only you can be the captain and you know it." Cosmo replies. "I'm just a big failure..." Tails continues. Cosmo walks in front of crestfallen Tails and says, "To me you are not, just think about the hundreds of times you have helped your friends when they were in trouble." Derek then joins the conversation, "Cosmo's right, Tails." Derek approaches Tails and Cosmo. The two turn to face Derek as he continues, "You've helped us out of countless dangerous situations, and your contributions to the team cannot be understated. Even if you really are guilty about what happened to Sonic and Knuckles, that won't change the fact that you've saved countless lives." Tails looks surprised but touched by Derek's words, "You... you really mean it?" he asks. "Of course, little brother." Derek replies. "And I'm proud of everything you've done for us, Tails." Derek smiles at Tails and adds, "Or should I call you: Captain." Tears well up in Tails' eyes as he embraces Derek. Derek embraces Tails back and says, "Now come on, Captain, let's go show Robotnik what we're made of." Tails lets go of Derek and looks over at Cosmo, who nods in agreement. Tails activates his werewolf eyes and exclaims, "Let's do this!"

Meanwhile at the Bridge, Robotnik talks with Chris “Howdy, Kid. You and your friends are ready to fight?” And Chris replies, “We're ready for anything you will dish out. Just try us!” Robotnik gets impressed and says, “Who'd have thought such big talk could come from such a small kid? By the way, where’s Sonic? Lying in bed and sniffing at his wounds? Chris gets angry. “Well, I guess while Amy is bandaging that blockhead of his, I will give you the news; You have five minutes before this Typhoon will turn into space dust. If I were you, kiddo… I would have said goodbye to my little friends a long time ago. Because it's going to be a hell of a blast!” Robotnik laughs heartily as the message ends.

“What do we do now?” Cream asks in worry, and Chris replies to her in depression “I don’t know…” Suddenly, “It’s okay, team. We have this under control.” Tails says. Chris looks up to see Tails, Cosmo and Derek re-entering the bridge. “Tails, you’re back!” Chris happily says, “Now let's take a look at the data of the energy shield and see how we can destroy it.” Tails says.

After examining the energy shield's data, Tails speaks up. "If we can exert enough force on the shield, we might be able to destroy it completely," he says. "But what if we get sucked inside?" Cream asks in hesitation. Chris responds, "It may be difficult, but it's the only chance we've got. We'll just have to give every ounce of energy we possibly can." Derek replies, "So be it." But Tails adds, "But there's one problem, Derek.” he says, “Your power and the Blue Typhoon power won't be enough. We'll need Sonic and Knuckles, but they're both knocked out right now."

Suddenly, Sonic's voice calls out from the background. "Who are you calling ‘Knocked out’?" Everyone turns to see Sonic standing with Amy's help. "It's too soon to count me out, Tails. Because when my captain needs me, nothing's gonna stop me from giving it all I got!" Tails grins, and Sonic continues. "Come on, Derek. Let's take down this shield together." Derek's response is immediate. "Now you're talking!" he says, and transforms into a werewolf. "Let's do this!" Tails shouts.

Chris, Derek, and Sonic exit the Bridge and enter one of the Typhoon's spaceships and fly towards Robotnik's army. “Sonic and his friends are plotting something. I’ll give it to them; They don't give up easily.”

Meanwhile at the Bridge, Cream says, “I checked the Master Emerald, Tails. He’s stable!” Tails replies, “Good, Keep an eye on it!”

Tails contacts Chris and says, "Alright, Chris. We're ready when you are." Chris replies, "Got it." He turns to Sonic and Derek, who are on the wings of his spaceship and says, "Be ready, both of you." Sonic activates his Chaos energy, and electricity starts pouring out of him, while Derek activates his full werewolf power. Chris shouts, "Sonic, Derek, now!" Sonic and Derek jump out of the spaceship wings and charge towards Robotnik's army. "One of Robotnik's robots says, "Activating the energy shield in 5… 4… 3… 2… 1." The energy shield activates, and Sonic and Derek get sucked in. It's quiet for a few seconds.

Amy looks at Tails and says, "Nothing's happening, Tails." Cream adds with concern, "What happened to them? Do you think they're okay?" Tails starts to lose hope and looks stressed, but then he remembers his conversation with Derek. He closes his eyes and takes a deep breath, telling himself "It'll work. After all, I'm the captain."

Suddenly, there is a roar coming from within the energy shield, and everyone sees Sonic and Derek getting electrocuted from the shield. "Sonic, Derek!" Everyone shouts in concern. "Chris, we need to go back, now!" Derek yells, bleeding from the electrocution. Chris quickly puts Sonic in the spaceship, and they all return to the Typhoon. Robotnik sees the opportunity and says "What are you waiting for, you idiots?! FIRE!". All of Robotnik's robots start shooting at the Blue Typhoon. "We're going to explode!" Amy shouts in panic. "Please make it work, PLEASE!" Tails yells desperately.

One of the robots fires one last shot that was supposed to blow up the Typhoon, but suddenly Derek jumps onto the front window. "What the…?" Tails says in surprise. "It's Derek!" Cosmo exclaims. Derek repels the shot with his hands and shouts angrily, "I won't let you!" But even though he manages to repel it, the shot starts to burn Derek's hands, who starts yelling in pain. "Derek, no!" Tails, Amy, Cream and Cosmo yell. "I don't care if I die... I… I won't let you!" Derek manages to transform into a werewolf, roars loudly, and deflects the shot to safety and falls to his knees. "Derek, are you okay?!" Tails says worriedly, and Derek gives a thumbs up. Suddenly, Derek hears heartbeats from the control room of the Typhoon, and smiles. "Knuckles, your turn." Derek says, then steps into the Typhoon.

Meanwhile, in the control room, Knuckles reaches to Master Emerald and says, "The seven Chaos Emeralds are servers… Chaos is a power, enriched by the heart... The Controller exists to unify the Chaos!" then continues, "Master Emerald, I need your help. Please help us win!"

Instantly, all power returns to the Typhoon. Everyone realizes that Knuckles activated the Master Emerald and rejoices. Now that the Typhoon is back to full power, Tails activates the Typhoon's most powerful cannon. Derek appears at the bridge, yelling, "TAILS, NOW!" Tails yells back, "Yes!" Presses the button and shoots at the shield with the cannon, succeeding in destroying it and along the way destroying Robotnik's entire army, causing Robotnik to retreat. "We did it!" Tails shouts in relief.

Some time later, in the Typhoon's medical room.

Sonic and Knuckles are back in the medical room. Tails is with them. "I just wanted to say I'm sorry, guys. I…" But Knuckles interrupts him, saying, "Sorry? Thanks to you, we're all still alive. Thanks, buddy." Sonic agrees and says, "Yeah, thanks, pal… I mean – Captain." Derek then comes, sits next to Tails, and puts his bandaged hand on his shoulder. "I'm very proud of you, Tails." Derek says. "Thank you, Derek. Thank you all, guys." Tails replies. Tails then turns to everyone, saying, "You’re the best."
