Description
Hey,It's been a while since I last submitted a drawing, but uni is keeping me quite busy these days. And my inspiration also decided to go on holiday.
But there is one thing that I promised for some interested fellow deviant'ers some time ago, and that 'thing' is a drawing tutorial. So... here it comes!
Click the 'Download' button for a full view.
I decided to simply describe my whole drawing process, along with some illustrations for more clarity. The tips and tricks mentioned inside may be already heard by you, but I never ever said that I'm using anything special.
After all, it's always mostly about patience and motivation.
P.S. Please don't use too much critique, since it's my 1st tutorial ever. *puppy eyes* If I get scared, I might never get round to doing another one!
Thanks very much to *redheadstock for wonderful brushes:

Somehow...I knew it was Wentworht Miller's eye as soon as I saw this But with that aside, I learned a lot from this tutorial, thank you!

It's a little hard to read, but a good tutorial, nonetheless. I actually learned something from it-- blending is okay as long as your put more graphite on.
Next time increase the font size a *wee* bit, and it's all good. Great job!

Thanks for the nice words!
Well, usually tutorials are ment to be downloaded, not viewed full-size (because of their big format). So if you find it hard to read- just press "Download" button and enjoy normal fonts.

Life is amazing, no?

Wonderful tutorial - I always appreciate to learn about the way others work. And I was so delighted to read about viewing the picture in front of a mirror - I always thought I was the only one to do this. I don't know why, but it helps loads! (And if I'm to lazy to go to the mirror: turning the pic upside down or looking sideways at it does the trick too, somehow.)

Ah don't worry, I don't think we're the only ones, using this method. Yep, the upside down thing works as well. But somewhy I usually prefer the mirror. I guess all of my drawings would be more or less disproportioned if not the journeys to the mirror.

Mirrors are a great thing to look at, but another great thing to do is look at your piece upside-down...of course, half the time my piece is that way while I'm working on it. It switches in the other side of the brain, so half the time it looks better upside down. Which is why when you paint/draw upsidedown it's really cool to turn upright and see how much better it looks. (of course, people think I'm crazy)

Snow-Owl In reply to Ty-DyQween [2007-10-29 16:47:46 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, I've heard about drawing upside down before. I think it works very similarly like the mirror does, but as for myself, for some reason I can't find enough will and courage to start drawing upside down. But I know that it really works and it must be very helpful indeed.

Very helpful! I still can't draw peoples faces. Only anatomy, so I have a sketch book full of headless bodies!

Snow-Owl In reply to Fatius [2007-10-29 16:45:02 +0000 UTC]
Lol! It's all vice versa in my case! If I could, I would borrow my drawn heads to these poor headless bodies in your sketch book.

I'm sure we could somehow arrange it! I've started drawing fantasy creatures just so I can complete drawings without going to all the effort of drawing a human face. I'll put one up on my account in a little while Still not in the same league as your drawings yet, but I think they're all right!

By the way, I always thought you are a male until I saw the hand in this tutorial!! I didn't check the gender before..
May be because of the avatar!!

Hmm I'll definitely consider changing the avatar then! Although I've always thought that it was quite girlish. Oh well, at least the truth is "finally revealed".
