Ooh~! I used to draw with a mouse but I would definitely recommend a tablet, my tablet cost about $99 US dollars and came with drawing programs (adobe photoshop ^^) however you can go onto the wacom bamboo website and they will have tablets and prices with them~ ^^ I hope that helps!

No, your english is fine! ^^

Sure, I'd be happy to help! With digital painting it's pretty much the same as a traditional medium (for example: charcoal, water color, oil, and so on), only digital painting is much more forgiving in nature. I would choose something that you love to draw and start there, use it to develop your style.

I started drawing in traditional medium (Graphite) on notebook paper, it doesn't have to be a good drawing, just something to get your ideas down. After I got comfortable I started looking for digital media software, I have used: Gimp- a free program that is downloadable, Paint tool Sai- it's a wonderful program and I would highly recommend it, and Adobe Photoshop elements (Which is what I currently use now) that came with my tablet.

I would recommend that you use a Wacom Bamboo Tablet as I used to use the track pad on a lap top and I have developed some joint issues from it from constantly drawing. But really the key to digital painting is starting out somewhere and just drawing and posting art and getting people to critique it, your art will grow leaps and bounds from that.

There are plenty of tutorials on DA and I have found many of them to be helpful. But most of what I learned was from looking up speed paintings on You tube. But really I just think of a scene in my head and try to copy it down as much as I can. That's how I learned (which isn't the best way to learn) by coping what I saw in my head down on a piece of paper and I would learn from watching other artists and how they drew and I would try to mimic some of the things that they did. Find a source for your inspiration (For me I guess it would stem from classic Disney) and go for it.

Though I found that the one thing that helped me improve the most was doing a concentration. A concentration is a collection of art (Normally 12 pieces) that is an exploration on a subject by doing one piece a week. I chose to do mythological creatures throughout the world. This helped me to focus on something I loved and by doing so I could put as much effort as I could into my work and I learned so much. That is why it's important to choose something you love, you can't learn if you do something you don't like doing.

I hope this helped, and don't be afraid to link back to me so I can see your work! If you want I can send you some tutorials to look at. I'll send you another message if I can think of anything else but really digital painting is something that you have to get a feel for, I've been drawing digitally for about four years and I still have A LOT to learn! Keep drawing!

For drawing on paper I can't really say I just picked up a pencil and started drawing... For brushes on the computer I use the standard basic brushes; a hard brush and a 19 pixel photoshop airbrush that I just vary the size to use. I also use the vine brush and a few of the 'dry' brushes as well. You're welcome and I hope that helps! ^^

Snowfirewolf In reply to congatrehp [2013-06-23 00:53:24 +0000 UTC]

I'd be happy to give you advice ^^ Normally when I was bored I would draw or write. I don't recommend doing this as I am now having some joint issues because I would always be drawing or writing when I was feeling stressed/ depressed/ or bored. I would recommend that you go for a walk. Its good for your health and can help improve memory and creativity. If you can't do that then leave what your doing for a little while and come back to it later when you're not feeling stressed. When you feel depressed look up, don't let it get you down. You are an amazing person and can achieve many things look at it as a way to get where you want to be in your life. I hope that helps ^^

Snowfirewolf In reply to KiraCriesBlood [2013-01-12 00:50:06 +0000 UTC]

No, no this is good!

If you want you could make the greens a little less green and a more of a yellowish hue to make it look more natural. But it depends on your style ^^

I was wondering about that, but I didn't dwell on it much, as you can probably see.

Either I'm completely missing the vine brush when I'm going trough my brushes, or I just don't have it... OTL
Wondering if you could possible describe aforementioned brush or send a screenshot of it to me or something... cuz... I'm almost frustrated with myself about it...
Or perhaps you downloaded a set of brushes to get this brush? idk...

Anyways, I like to tutorial.
I'm just trying to get away from my stupidity in photoshop and such with trying to add backgrounds to my horrid digital arts... >.<

Thank you for your time. lol
