SnowSultan — Saving Genesis Presets in Studio 4.5 (updated)

Description updated 12/17: Added how to save Hands (the purple area at the bottom). I meant to do that yesterday but I was too tired and forgot.

I just realized that my previous tutorial for saving faces in Studio is outdated now and doesn't help much when trying to save them for Genesis, so I threw this together tonight. Should be accurate, but please double-check your work (and let me know if I made any mistakes if you can).

Covers how to save poses (with no expressions or morphs), shapes (morph presets without changing the pose), expressions (that don't affect pose or shaping morphs), and hands (poses that only change the hand and fingers).

I hope it can be useful! Thanks very much for taking a look!

MOST helpful. Thank you. You should post these at the DAZ forums if you already haven't. They would help newbies and not so newbies tremendously. Thank you again for being so helpful!

Funny, I just downloaded DS. Poser is sort of ticking me off seeing as how they keep releasing new ones before the full extent of the one prior can be explored. Now my only problem is what to do with all of my poser libraries...

SnowSultan In reply to xanthemann [2012-12-17 16:55:22 +0000 UTC]

Studio will detect Poser Runtime libraries, so you won't have to change anything. The important thing to remember is that native Studio files (like Genesis and any .duf files) and Poser files will end up in different directories (Poser's need to stay in their Runtime folder, Studio's can be anywhere).

So I can use all my old Poser stuff, I just have to direct DS to where the library is? Cool. Thank you very much!

SnowSultan In reply to xanthemann [2012-12-17 17:09:22 +0000 UTC]

Yep, my Runtime is actually almost unchanged since I set it up way back with Poser 4. If you ever remove Poser, just move the entire Runtime somewhere else (all of my 3D content is in a folder called "3D Content", haha), and direct Studio to it.

Thank you for the advice! I feel much better about using DS now. Now if only I could figure out Sketch Up and Gimp 2, ha ha ha.

Sorry, I don't know anything about GIMP or Sketchup.
