Description Here is the second tutorial for customizing DAZ Studio's interface, this one shows how to edit and make your own menus. More tutorials to come.

I hope this isn't too difficult, it is much easier to explain this sort of thing with a video. I believe DAZ has posted a video on customizing Studio's interface, but I don't know offhand where it is. Anyway, if you have any trouble following this tutorial, feel free to let me know and I'll try to help.

Thanks!

We had talked about how to customize buttons and icons in Studio before 3.0 came out, but no one's said a thing about it since. I will try to talk to someone who might know after Christmas when DAZ guys are back at work. Sorry for the delay!

You're welcome. Did you figure out how to do this on your own too? I've always been impressed by how quickly you learned Studio without much of a manual. You are extremely talented!

"You are extremely talented!"
Awwww Thank you SnowS!
You are very talented too!! I your work!

I have never changed the interface before. I was afraid to do something wrong... But now with your tutorial, it will be easier.
Your tutorial on how to make new categories was very useful! Thanks again! On my pc it does not worked because the CMS is not working, but worked like a charm on my laptop. Thank you!!

Thanks very much!

I'm glad if my tutorials can help! I experimented a lot with the interface because I have to feel comfortable with my program, haha. Oh, since you also have characters that you use over and over, try to get in the habit of saving every part of them as a Character file. That will save both materials and morphs in one preset, and it makes reassembling them much faster and easier (as I have had to do many times). In Studio 4.5, you can only save Genesis presets as Characters unless you use the Depreciated save types, and I'm still having problems saving just an expression in 4.5. Backing up saved scenes might not even help, so it's better to be prepared to remake your characters as quickly as possible if necessary.

I used to save as "character", but then I made some changes in some characters, I started to save separately: Morph -> Pose and Skin -> material.
I will follow your tip to save as "Character". The version 4.5 is now official? I am afraid of something happening and losing the character morphs.

SnowSultan In reply to Telperion-Studio [2012-06-27 17:59:29 +0000 UTC]

That's true, sometimes you may edit one or the other later and then it's better to have separate presets.

No, 4.5 isn't official yet, but I've continued to have problems with old scenes in the 4.5 public releases. It could just be a problem on my end, but I wouldn't want you or anyone else to lose your custom characters.
