Sol-Zephyr β€” Metroid - Why do they do it

Description Last submission of April.

When Samus finally reached Phaaze, she realized something. Phaaze is one hell of a planet.
Samus could ask herself: 'How do I get rid of a whole freaking planet!?'
Not to worry, Samus! Dark Samus has it all figured out already!
All you have to do is to fly down there and defeat her new toy. That shouldn't be too hard.

Samus speciality: "Indirectly" destroying planets.

If you don't remember or played the game:
The Space Pirates stole a biological computer and Dark Samus wanted for some reason hook it up to the evil super-planet.
Of course you'll fight it, but when you defeat it, the whole planet blows up for some reason...

Paper sketch, edited in Photoshop CS2.

It's always the few smart ones that end up getting killed.
That leaves the rest of them morons.

indeed. hence why the bad guys always fail... but if there are smart ones, the game would acauly be a bit harder and on hypermode difficulty in Prime 3, it would acualy be annoying. 8D, but meh. cant blame dark sumus... 8D

Phaaze is a living planet and slowly launches Leviathans out into space so they can crash into it and corrupt the planet. It gains control of an inhabitant on the planet so it can mutate it into a protector.

In MP1, the Impact Crater is an old Leviathan and Dark Samus (Metroid Prime) is its protector (which took Samus's DNA when it took her phazon suit).

In MP2, the crash of the Leviathan was enough to tear the planet in two dimensionally. Emperor Ing was the Leviathan's protector.

In MP3, Dark Samus took control of Phaaze by stealing an Aurora Unit. This way she could directly control the planet and have it launch Leviathans at a much faster rate and purposefully aim them (hence there being 2 planets hit with a Leviathan, one almost hit and a 4th for traveling, all in one game.

Anyway, since DS fused the AU to Phaaze in order to control it, it pretty much rewired it so when the brain died (AU) the rest of the planet went with it

Why wasn't there anything about this sort of thing in Hunters? It's a Prime game, so...

Its a Prime game only because its like the others somewhat in gameplay, not because of story.

actually, phaaze died because dark samus was the creater and ruler of all phazon. when samus overloaded dark samus with the hyper beam, dark samus self-destructed. She was what was keeping the planet and all phazon alive. That's why the corupption growth inside samus dissapeared RIGHT after dark samus died.

Aleitheo In reply to BigHailFan [2009-03-18 18:24:04 +0000 UTC]

Wrong, Phaaze is the creator of phazon, Phaaze is a living planet.

- Phaaze sends off a leviathan years before MP2 takes place and it collides with Aether

- Like always, the leviathan corrupts a nearby being to be its guardian, this is Metroid Prime

- Metroid Prime gets defeated but steals Samus's dark suit along with enough DNA to morph into Dark Samus

- Dark Samus in its energy form is harvested by unsuspecting Space Pirate

- Dark Samus takes over the Pirates as its own army

- Using the Pirates, DS attacks the GFS Valhalla and steals its AU

- Heading the Phaaze, DS hooks the AU up to the core and takes it over in order to create Leviathans much faster at specific targets

- Samus and DS fight, DS is weakened and enters the AU. The AU is destroyed which is bad for Phaaze as it was running it, Phaaze is destroyed and as a result, all phazon is too, which includes DS

---

Dark Samus came way after Phaaze, if Dark Samus was what was keeping Phaaze alive, it would not still be around when DS was first defeated as Metroid Prime or the multiple times in Echoes.

yes, but if the AU lost it's connection with the planet, they both would've blown up. But dar samus makes you right throught hree round. first is dark samus, second is the AU, and then it's the AU without the spinal cord. If what you said was true, there would be no third round, the planet would blow up when the AU was dissconected. The technique I said makes a bit more sense because nintendo has done that system before. blow up the boss, to blow them all up. This is what you had to do with the queen aperoid on star fox assault.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Aleitheo In reply to BigHailFan [2009-03-18 19:56:39 +0000 UTC]

And the AU did lose its connection when it was defeated. In Metroid they have clearly gone past the need for wires so just because the neck was destroyed, doesn't mean that the AU lost its connection with Phaaze, why would it have the ability to fly if it would not be able to use it?

The technique you said makes no sense as Samus has defeated DS many times before and Phaaze only blew up when the AU did

BigHailFan In reply to Aleitheo [2009-03-18 20:58:06 +0000 UTC]

yes, but Dark Samus kept coming back because samus didn't destroy her body, remember, in metroid prime 2 you did not have to hyper beam, and the scan data about dark samus said that you can overload her cellular stucture(wich is made of phazon) with phazon based weponary(A.K.A. hyper mode). Before, samus could temporarily destroy samus in the fights on MP2, but she kept coming back because her body was destroy, but her cells weren't.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Aleitheo In reply to BigHailFan [2009-03-18 21:17:25 +0000 UTC]

Yes, but what has that got to do with everything else that was said?

Like I already said, Phaaze is the creator of Phazon, not Dark Samus. When Phaaze was destroyed, that was what destroyed all the phazon

BigHailFan In reply to Aleitheo [2009-03-18 21:21:02 +0000 UTC]

trust me on this dude, DS made phaaze, that's why when she died, Phaaze died as well.

Aleitheo In reply to BigHailFan [2009-03-18 21:54:47 +0000 UTC]

Well according to the game you are wrong and what you say makes no sense. I would trust the game about what happens in the game than someone who gets the games story wrong

You are proposing that some how DS came from nowhere and created Phaaze.

I am telling you that Phaaze came first, launched a leviathan at Tallon IV (thats what Impact Crater in MP1 is, a dead leviathan) which turned what we call Metroid Prime into its Guardian.

Since Metroid Prime as we know it was made by the Tallon IV Leviathan and all Leviathans come from Phaaze, how on earth could DS make Phaaze which makes Leviathans which made DS in the first place?

When Phaaze died, all the Phazon it made, including the phazon that is DS, died along with it. DS did not make Phaaze as thats not possible

BigHailFan In reply to Aleitheo [2009-03-18 22:34:42 +0000 UTC]

well, aperoids came before the aperoid planet, so it would make sense if it happened this way too.

Aleitheo In reply to BigHailFan [2009-03-18 23:35:57 +0000 UTC]

No it wouldn't, Metroid and Starfox are different things anyway, that and you don't seem to understand what Phaaze is.

Leviathans are created by Phaaze, Phaaze is the only thing which creates them. It makes them so it can spread to other planets and infect them, Phaaze is the source of Phazon and the only living planet.

Without Phaaze, there are no leviathans, without leviathans, there is no Metroid Prime.

This is clearly explained in the games, what you are proposing contradicts what the games say and makes no sense.

Easy on Hypermode? It was not easy for me. I struggled with the last battle for half a year before I finally beat it.
Mogenar was sure a pain as well, especially with so few Energy tanks. Another annoyingly hard phase was to disable the Pirate Defense System. Those Pirate Commandos always came back in a matter of seconds and jammed my shots on the target points... And I oh god hate the 'Hypermode-bombs'... Energy was depleted in a matter of seconds.

I think that the planet blew up because dark samus was the "Core" of the palnet, Metroit Prime 1 was the game where Datk Samus, Phazon, Lebiathans, and all that stuff originated, right? Well, what if the first Leviathan was the living heart of the planet? I think that's why the planet blew up when AU313 dark samus were destroyed,

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Sol-Zephyr In reply to volt25 [2008-09-19 11:31:47 +0000 UTC]

It's rather that the story of MP1 was about TallonIV where a Leviathan had struck long ago. And as MP3 shows, each Leviathan corrupt an inhabitant, in this case a metroid, which probably evolved into Prime.
My guess is that Dark Samus was just as any other infected guardian, but she ultimately seek to control Phaaze. And then when you fight her, she probably had made herself the "core".

Much like the bounty hunter that she was indirectly based on, Dark Samus seems to possess the uncanny ability that states that anywhere she goes will blow up most spectacularily at some point soon. Often with a timed escape sequence.

Well, at least there's ONE thing Prime didn't retcon to fvckery. >>;

Yes I remembered that later, who knows why I said 217? maybe that was skytown or gfs olympus. If the GFS Olympus was the first starship of it's class then was the GFS valhalla made after the olympus and stolen before the game began? because the Valhalla identical to most of the olympus. I actually thought I was on the olympus when I was getting the pirate code on my first play through.
