He reminds me of a Latvian guy named Krijik I used to work with all the time when I was back in Chechnya. He was a merc too. Self-hired, in fact. Last I heard, he got married and works as a security consultant.

He was. A real badass with the smartass backtalk of a macho. He was a good soldier. Can't complain. But he was never around when my squad and I got under pot shots from the bloody "spirits", that's rebels. And he rarely saw the gore we were exposed to on a daily basis. Which suddenly reminds of that day back in 2009 when I walked into a building that had just been hit by MI-35 rockets. Ever seen crispy mincemeat? Only human.
