Description
Don't get the wrong idea. I'm not saying people should stop using it altogether. However, I often see people relying a bit too much on it and its female counterpart. I've seen DA galleries that are nothing but "dolls" made with them. To boot, there are a lot of creative characters out there with features beyond the dollmakers' capabilities. I can name a number of my own characters as examples; I looked over the menus and saw no sign of inline skates, multiple heads, or Double Cutters. It may be a good brainstorming tool for beginners, but nobody can be a beginner all their lives.I may or may not make a female dollmaker stamp to go with this one. I'm not sure whether being redundant is better or worse than being sexist.

I have posted a few dolls from it, but I would like to say that I made very sure to point out that I didn't draw them myself and gave credit to geN8hedgehog. I also put them in scraps.
I'm not all that good at drawing yet, so for me it's a fun thing to play around with. It's fun, but I don't plan to make nothing but dolls. It's just something fun to do whilst I am still learning to draw...that probably makes no sense huh?
I think it would be teribble for someone to post them up and claim they made them on their own. But I am sure there are people who do that.

I've only used it a few times, and only as an example for drawing. It has helped me create my OCs, since I find it hard to draw something unless an example is right in front of me. And, I always credit to the artist. However, I don't think it's right when people make a furry on there, screen shot it, and then put it in their gallery, or even scraps. That's what Photobucket is for.

there are reasons. i personally couldn't figure out what my oc should look like until i found this game. besides, if you want to create a character with i.e. multiple heads, you can figure out the rest of the character on this, and draw it later with however many heads you want.

It's one thing to model your character on the dollmaker to figure out what they should look like. It's another to take a screenshot once you've got it and upload it as if you'd drawn it yourself.

i completly agree, i think that its way over used. i dont think its a bad dollmaker, i think its very good and she did very well. but i do think people rely on it too much, they make all thier characters completly with that. if they maybe, draw it themselves, change quite a few things about the character, thats a little better.dont get me wrong, its fun to play around with it, thats the only reason why i use it, for fun. but when they post pictures of them on da, and say that they are completly origonal and theirs, thats just not right.and, like you said, ive seen galleries with nothing but screenshots of that dollmaker, and its kinda defeats the purpose of the dollmaker.
well, im gonna stop ranting now and get a coke.

I agree so much with this stamp. I'll use the male/female doll makers for concepts of characters and to build up extra clothing ideas. I could have a character in progress, yet it could look like somebody elses character. So I (try to) build it on the doll makers then I'll experiment to get a more original look.
Yet I will admit, it needs modules for markings / more color shades / doubles of tails / single gloves / more clothing choices. Yet saying this, I do really only use it for concepts and not the whole character, ' get a look and then build on that ' is what I normally go for with doll makers.
Really though, if you're going to make a character then I say don't even bother using the doll maker if you aren't going to change the design of it to suit your own styles. Because
1) using most of the outfits from there is stealing the somewhat of creativness that geN8 used in creating them,
2) you also don't look very original, seeing as you can notice the clothing used straight away on the 'doll maker-redrawn ' characters.
However, I would still like to see people being stripped of their freedom to post the dolls in any section of their galleries- why? It says you can, have to, post it in scraps and give credit and link to the makers, nobody seems to post it in scraps and nobody seems to post a link. It seems 1 : 5 people do that, like, post the link and post it into scraps.
....I'm gonna stop ranting. D:

This is so full of truth it's sad. I ued to use the Furry Dollmaker a lot, but I've tired out on it. It's abused and used so much it isn't even funny, like a lot of people said. Anyways, I never use it anymore, neither would I EVER post anything onmy DeviantArt profile I didn't draw or sprite( and since my scanner sucks I'm sticking to taking pictures from now on... which just looks horrible, whoops, offtopic) I'm not saying the Dollmaker isn't good, it is very good, but... there's just something I don't like...
Sorry if I offended you peoples out there! <3

I barely use if I do use it it's for a spriting ideas. Some people may use it a lot just for fun because some people are childish like that.I don't see the point of people making sonic characters with it -_- the point it was as she said to help out beginners if she wanted people to create sonic characters she would have create a sonic character dress up game. That's how I feel about the doll maker.
