I don't mind people writing this and that about the rivalry between Sonic and Mario, but most people (most!) seem to assume that it's the only way to go. I mean, just because the two (and soon, three) games they've appeared together in are centered around competition doesn't mean it's all they can do, does it? I for one am a firm believer that they can bury the hatchet and fight alongside each other, rather than against each other.The Mario's sprite from Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga; I downloaded it just for this stamp. The Sonic sprite's from Sonic Advance 2; I had it saved on my hard drive for who knows how long.
Just because we've never seen it happen doesn't mean it can't. And I'm absolutely sure it can. Who's with me?

Note: I did not know of Super Mario Bros. Z at the time that I made this stamp. Now, thanks to those who have commented on it, I am very adequately informed.

On the mario side, action and classical jumps! The orignial style game, yes?
On the Sonic side we have the speed and long courses!
They can have a game were one side is mario story and the other side is Sonic story and then have them both meet up during game play. Then last story they fight WITH each other to overcome any threat!

It's a thought, but I'm concerned that switching between the two styles like that might turn some gamers off.

Well how about if Mario and Sonic can coexsist in a level? Like, if Sonic is currently being played, you can chose a Mario character *besides mario* to go through the level with them and help them.
Mario can team up with one of Sonic's buddies *cept Shadow* and go through the levels with them.
Mario and Sonic won't see each other till the end!

the only problem i see in that is that Mario doesn't have alot of characters to choose from. There's Yoshi Luigi and Peach but Sonic has Tails Knuckles Amy Rouge and so on and so forth. Then again a game with Sonic shadow Tails Knuckels and Amy could work right?

I agree. In fact, I even desined a game called Mario & Sonic: Teamup for a competition in a games magazine. I didn't win (that went to someone who had them pitted against each other, surprise, surprise!) but I was featured.

For all we know, Bowser and Eggman will end up teaming up with eachother other and have Sonic and mario teaming up as a result.

Maybe, and I hate to argue against my own viewpoint, but how would they pull it off? The general gameplay of Mario's games is radically different from that of Sonic's.

Three ideas.
-Maybe do something like in Sonic Generations. Give them different stages of gameplay.
-Make the stages have alternate routes that fit either character.
-Offer a tag-team system that lets you switch between the two.
