I don't mind people writing this and that about the rivalry between Sonic and Mario, but most people (most!) seem to assume that it's the only way to go. I mean, just because the two (and soon, three) games they've appeared together in are centered around competition doesn't mean it's all they can do, does it? I for one am a firm believer that they can bury the hatchet and fight alongside each other, rather than against each other.The Mario's sprite from Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga; I downloaded it just for this stamp. The Sonic sprite's from Sonic Advance 2; I had it saved on my hard drive for who knows how long.
Just because we've never seen it happen doesn't mean it can't. And I'm absolutely sure it can. Who's with me?

I know what Sonadow is. I know what it means when two character names are blended like that. I'm just not sure how that applies to this situation.

Mario and Sonic fans always go out of proportion about this. I mean yes, they're rivals, but I'm sure it completely out of sport and and friendly competition. I awlay thought of Mario and Sonic as friendly rivals, just as I do with Peach and Amy, Tails and Yoshi, Daisy and Blaze, and even Luigi and Shadow.

The characters would have no knowledge of each other before the Olympic games, (Smash Bros does not count as those are magically enchanted toys), which is a friendly competition, and, even if they did, would be far more likely to work together, as they are both heroes, along with a couple of other characters from each series, the most notable among them being Luigi. Recently, he's not so much a sidekick as a hero in his own right.
So... They'd get along. Not sure about their friends, but they'd get along.
