“And you’re just a defective Pearl!”
When Jasper said those words it made me wonder how actual Pearls like. Now maybe it was mentioned in one of the episodes (which I missed sadly) but what if real Pearls are supposed to calculate every single detail and are flawless in every way.
Our Pearl is very intelligent however there are many times when her calculations are off such as the Space rocket, and the device to defeat Period’s orbs.
Also I assume Pearls have to be mentally stable but in our Pearl’s case she can overreact or have a hard time maintaining herself like when Pearl and Amethyst released the shards from Rose Quartz’s bubble and when they revisit Rose Quartz garden to when Pearl fails she would start laughing and stating stuff like “could have been worse”.
I dunno that’s what I think but Our Pearl is still our adorable Pearl~
[Update] FINALLY ONE OF MY THEORIES ARE CORRECT!

I wonder if Rose Quartz bought this Pearl to help her protect the earth, but felt sorry for having a slave and got rid of the block that prevented Pearl from feeling the full palette of emotions and gave this Pearl freewill. Naturally, Pearl was as grateful as can be to Rose Quartz for giving her another chance at life.

I was thinking that too but another theory came up saying that Pearl was possibly White diamond's pearl for the fact that in "The answer" when every gem was monotone color for their diamond Pearl was white not pink. So my theory is after Rose defeated White diamond Pearl was devastated and Rose felt sorry and told her that she has a choice in life.
Then there's another theory that Lion is Rose's pearl because if the Rose Diamond theory is true Rose should have had a pearl. And the theory goes that Pearls are the only ones who can store stuff in their gems much like lion, and because many corrupted gems took beastly forms is how Rose's pearl became Lion.
I just want more episodes to watch!

Some believe she was made to be a servant of some sort
She likes to do chores and stuff, so that may suggest it. It may also suggest a portion of her loyalty to Rose, she acts as if protecting and being useful to Rose was her life purpose.

I know and it breaks my heart so much, pearl is a salty baby bird that must be protected. However since the last time we've seen her she seemed to have gained a little more independence. She's starting to get over the death of Rose

This theory is very interesting, it would also explain what Pearl said in the episode "Friend ship" "I'm just a pearl, I'm useless on my own" "I need someone to tell me what to do"

Another thing that gives this theory weight is the fact that there are only that many types of gems and minerals in the world. So for an empire of gems to exist there has to be duplicates.
