“And you’re just a defective Pearl!”
When Jasper said those words it made me wonder how actual Pearls like. Now maybe it was mentioned in one of the episodes (which I missed sadly) but what if real Pearls are supposed to calculate every single detail and are flawless in every way.
Our Pearl is very intelligent however there are many times when her calculations are off such as the Space rocket, and the device to defeat Period’s orbs.
Also I assume Pearls have to be mentally stable but in our Pearl’s case she can overreact or have a hard time maintaining herself like when Pearl and Amethyst released the shards from Rose Quartz’s bubble and when they revisit Rose Quartz garden to when Pearl fails she would start laughing and stating stuff like “could have been worse”.
I dunno that’s what I think but Our Pearl is still our adorable Pearl~

I was thinking the same thing about Blue Diamond, Yellow diamond, Rose diamond, and white diamond!
And I have another theory. What if there was a dispute between diamonds besides rose, yellow, blue and white?
Maybe certain colors that fit into the color spectrum are the ones that follow a specific diamond?
other diamonds are mention however do we know what happened? We know Yellow diamond is alive but what about Blue, white, and Rose? (we know possible 2/3)
The crystal gems themselves are very diverse in personality, Pearl being more mental, Amethyst more actions, Garnet (Ruby more loyal and Sapphire more calm) Gems personalities were based off the gems they represent on behalf?
Water=blue is very calm(Lapiz is very calm) and Rose= a symbol of a relation with another being(there's hundreds of colors but relationships rely on loyalty) and something to give to your White Diamond theory being the one to possibly control minds have more technical gems.
I can't think 100% on this but this was the basis of my theory

Well it's possible, but my question in Pearl. Pearls are created by Clams and organic creature, Peridot is found in space. Other gems are found on earth. So my theory is that some of the space homeworld gems found earth and found more minerals that could be used to make more gems and increase their population. They they experimented with the minerals of Earth and created many more gems. Which could explain why Homeworld is trying to take over earth and why Kindergarden was just full of holes and gem technology. Maybe they found it easier to develop gems on Earth and experimented with using earth as a gem birthplace? I've been following the show since the beginning and the story of Steven Universe has gotten much more interesting^^

i think jasper said pearl was "defective" because she has a baroque pearl; perfect pearls are always round, while baroque pearls are misshapen, or in SU!Pearl's case, oval-shaped, thus making her "defective".

Defective can also refer to 'defecting', as in abandoning one group in favor for another. Pearl abandoned the homeworld gems for Rose Quartz, so she was a defective soldier, a traitor rather than a blunder

I sort of interpreted that seen meaning that there are multiples of each gem, possibly even with simular behaviors, but that more independent personalities like Peral can arise, home world considering this to be a flaw in a otherwise functional system.

It's a possibility however not confirmed. I mean look at "On the Run" Episode where Amethyst showed Steven where she was made and there were multiple holes all around, it's possible that theirs more than 1 amethyst, home world created more amethyst.
I mean if it's easy to make a gem I would imagine homeworld would do it.

I have no idea but the possibility is still out there. Maybe what rose meant was the exact same gem. one might master a different weapon or not. But also back at kindergarden Amethyst said that was the place that made gems like her, so maybe homeworld found a way to make the exact same gem.
These are just theories of course, the only way to confirm them is in future episodes.

This reminds me a lot like the SFM Defect. But it's probably just a coincidence that they look kinda similar. xD Which is pretty cool but the video was really intense and sad. But man seeing it with Pearl is just wow. This sounds like a theory that needs some digging up, too. I want to know more about Pearl as the episodes progress.

We know plenty about Pearl but we don't know much about the home world gems, I want to know more about them and their culture since they seem to want to take over for their own benefit, however other gems seem to dispute about the matter.

Warning maybe spoilers mostly like speculation, but probably not jossed so idk could be spoilery for the future.
In my head, Pearls are like servants/guards/maids/stewards. I think that like, she was loyal to her 'master' Rose Quartz(??), but the love that Rose gave her, combined with her perhaps being defective from the start, drew her out of her shell aka 'programming'. She is no longer following her 'programming', and is far from her master (if not rose) or her home. So she is lost, and defective, and one of many Pearls.
I like to imagine that there were a lot of Pearls that sided with Rose, and that they died in the strawberry fields... I feel like in the stone mural of Rose fighting Yellow Diamond(??), that the black marks around here were her army, a bunch of Pearls, or humans. If Rose turns out to be the starter of the Kindergarten, another popular theory, then they might be those drilling/gem hatching machines, and she is stopping Diamond from restarting them...
Anyway. I love this.

I'm going to freak if this is true, like how I freaked at the theory of Garnet being a fusion being true. A lot of fan theories have brought up different patterns on different gem groups like the crystal jems have a star pattern somewhere in their clothing and the home world gems all so far have a diamond type pattern on their clothing. The theory is that they wear these patterns signifying whom they're with or obeying. So this can be very true.
Steven Universe started off as such a cute show but then everything is now connected and I love the show even more!

I can see it happening since she said something along the lines of "what's the point of staying on the home world with out you[rose quartz]"
This is the first time hearing this one but at the same time she can't really abandon steven unless she poses a threat.
