Description
“And you’re just a defective Pearl!”
When Jasper said those words it made me wonder how actual Pearls like. Now maybe it was mentioned in one of the episodes (which I missed sadly) but what if real Pearls are supposed to calculate every single detail and are flawless in every way.
Our Pearl is very intelligent however there are many times when her calculations are off such as the Space rocket, and the device to defeat Period’s orbs.
Also I assume Pearls have to be mentally stable but in our Pearl’s case she can overreact or have a hard time maintaining herself like when Pearl and Amethyst released the shards from Rose Quartz’s bubble and when they revisit Rose Quartz garden to when Pearl fails she would start laughing and stating stuff like “could have been worse”.
I dunno that’s what I think but Our Pearl is still our adorable Pearl~
[Update] FINALLY ONE OF MY THEORIES ARE CORRECT!

Did you hear of the theory that Pearl is "defective" because she knows how to fight? The theory is basically about how pearls are supposed to be a sort of servant or technical caste of gem society and thus were never meant to learn how to fight. However, Pearl clearly knows how to fight if she summoned her weapon, which makes her defector from her original role, which was likely to be a sort of servant to Rose Quartz.

You know, I just recently discovered this fan theory and am surprised by how popular it is. It makes a lot of sense, really. I agree with all your points.
Also, notice how Pearl's pearl is oval shaped. Most pearls are circular spheres. This could add to her being defectiv

I heard that one as well, fan theories are always fun to read, and even more exciting when they do add up.

I think it's just because Pearl is really loyal, then she changed sides and went against her original side.

I HAVE MY HOPES HIGH FOR THIS BEING CANON. But i can imagine every pearl looking different, because actual pearls form differently. They can be small, rounder, or maybe even entirely different from our pearl. I dont know i just really like this theory

Pearls are kinda easy (at least compared to gemstones) to make artificially being organic not geological in origin like all the other Gem we've seen, and you know, the more I look at her "spear" the more I think, it looks like a drill. Who says she was made as a fighting unit? pearls in real life are not stones at all and are much easier to break then say quartz.

Sonicsis In reply to dragonkingofthestars [2015-04-28 01:25:34 +0000 UTC]
That makes a lot of sense. Now that you mention a drill maybe Pearls were the first miners drilling up gems

dragonkingofthestars In reply to Sonicsis [2015-04-28 02:14:50 +0000 UTC]
humm, assuming Gems form like real life gemstones and the kindergarten apparatus is just a way to speed it up, then the position of "miner", while also important for metals, would be more like a human position of "nurse". Someone has to get young Gems out of the ground.
And on that note (i'm on a roll!) gems grow very, very slowly, taking millions of years for some of them, so we have to assume a very, very low "birth" rate, hence those gems shards we see in frybo, some kind of way to help keep the organic races of the galaxy, with much higher birth rates then gems at bay? it was used to make armor, and in manual labor jobs, factory worker, miner, low grade stuff, having a robot, or in this case Pearls, perform the task so you can free up a much more valuable "proper" gem to do important tasks.

Sonicsis In reply to dragonkingofthestars [2015-04-30 18:33:11 +0000 UTC]
(nice!) I completely forgot about Frybo, now that I think about it, they were just shards, minerals can fuse together to create another mineral. Maybe the shards are the main factor of Gem creation. Also looking back the color of the shards and the color of the gems on top of the gem technology back in kindergarten seem very familiar.
These theories are getting better and better every time!
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
dragonkingofthestars In reply to Sonicsis [2015-04-30 20:04:41 +0000 UTC]
Well, to grow gems artificially you need a fragment of a "proper" gem stone, called the seed, for the rest of the gem to grow around it. So if we go to the hypothesis that "gems take a while to grow naturally" shards would be the starting point for the kindergarden, assuming there gems follow the rules for regular gem stone (heh, I can now see the Crystal gems freaking out the first time they saw jewelry). I went back to the kindergarden scene and the gems on the "Virus" machines was red, while Frybo's shard was blue, I don't see a connection other then coming from the same source.
If you think these Theories are good you should hear my head canon about who Rose Quartz fought against.

What about the multiplier back in "Fair Trade" that multiplied everything, they could easily make multiple
I'd love to hear your rose quartz theory^^

dragonkingofthestars In reply to Sonicsis [2015-05-01 21:38:22 +0000 UTC]
I would not trust that Multiplier thing to make gem shards, it may be able to copy something, but with gems you need to copy things down to the literally molecular level, i'm not sure that duplicate has the ability to get that detailed considering the objects it makes are clearly magical since they go "poof" when the copier does.
as for rose quartz, well it's not my idea on her, but it's more a highly unsupported hand canon about the other side of that war, most of the gem theory's i have don't really have a place to be posted, if i ever do i'll point the link out to you, likely be somewhere where on deviant art if i ever get my act together and write my head canons down.

Sonicsis In reply to dragonkingofthestars [2015-05-02 03:42:44 +0000 UTC]
Maybe the multiplier was used for the battle between homeworld and the crystal gems? Multiplying as many soldiers as needed, but they were probably cheap. Quantity over quality I guess.
If you ever do I would be glad to read^^ It might spoil something like Garnet being a fusion, but I think it's cool when someone was on the right track

I agree with you, Rose quarts being Rose Diamond changing it to quartz in order to earn respect among her people, I thought the same thing myself but the possibility of a lower class gem never struck my mind. I think another theory to help back up your Rose diamond theory is that unlike the other gems Rose has 2 weapons, her shield and her sword.
I really like your head cannons
