Description
Well, exams are finished, and I thought it would be fitting to upload a new space piece that's been on my HD for a while.I put alot of effort into the Mustafar style planet.
Also an entry for the Centre of Power contest...
I had no imagination when I came up with this title, after my brain has been zapped of its power after this week.
So enjoy.

You may use it on your site as long as you give me full credit for the image and provide a link back to this page

Awesome !!!
How did you make the "mustafar-skinned" planet ?

Experimentation with a basic planet surface. Overlapped with black/dark clouds, set to a transfer mode that brings out the highlights in the original texture. Then added the volcano flares with the paint brush.

Welcome . Alot of my work is trial and error, just see what looks good by changing a few things.

Wow I really like this one, especially the gas giant, it has a very unique lighting with those different colors!
It's really nice and I like the big planet behind it too!
The planet with the rings next to the send doesn't blend too well with the whole piece I think.
But it's a really good piece!

Yeah, all realism went out the window when I made a Gas Giant orbiting a rocky planet. Thanks.

Hehe yeah, it sure did!
But you're like me, I'd rather have more creativity and fantasy than realism ^.^
It's more of the feeling of the art and the beauty of it than making it look realistic. lol

Hehe yeah!
Some great space artists forget that sometimes and it ruins a bit the piece or it could've been better.
But then again, there's some space artists that are super good and can combine both without a problem

Yes, they are the ones that seem to be more popular because they are creative and are not limited by our universe. I just started doing what looks aesthetically pleasing to me.

Hehe yeah, I value creativity over realism!
And that's true, people like that more too!
They don't like planets that look completely real but have no feeling or colors to it you know.
It needs that "inspiring feeling"

I like your entry, although it would have been more original if you made your own gas giant for the contest...

Well honestly I'd still make your own planets, because then it's showing your TRUE capabilities. I wouldn't say they suck because it looks like you are very good at space art.

Thanks, but Gas Giants never look good unless they are done in a 3D program. I do not have one of those, and Photoshopped ones using the "Spherise" filter look...rather crap.

Try the free 3D render program called Blender.

I probably should mention that I use a Mac. And that there are NO good 3D programs for Macs....

Oh, I see. You should get a Sun VirtualBox (free), then run linux on it and then you'd be able to get the Blender program working for free. I think VirtualBox is Mac OS compatible.

When you look at the small light in the background, for me it feels like you become closer to it the longer you stare. It's lovely how it appears ^^
Good work, and much luck in the contest~

I love space art, they are so fascinating - and this is no exception. My favoruite part of this piece is the planet witha green stripe and blue glow.
Good luck in the contest
