Description There are two types of things in the worlds : the things that go aay, and those which stay. I guess my fanatism toward Evangelion goes in this second category. I've over-loved this series for more than 5 years, but I had yet to do a "proper fanart" of it. It's now done. Yay !. This drawing was of course inspired by the viewing for the nth time of the End of Evangelion, but also from the doujinshi "Re-Take" that I bought at the Comicket last week and which is pretty cool ! (it's the complete rewriting of the end of the series, and it's well done !)

(for the eva fanatics here : I know the Eva Series 5 are not supposed to have their wings anymore in that final scene, but I just needed wings for the compo so I was a bit sacrilegious...XD)

this is very well done. I like your style. where its not quite like anime, but kinda close, while manages to be itself. And I'm tired of seeing that DA is turning into some anime artists dream site. lol, I'm sounding so hyprocritical... They point is is that yours stands out from others and that is why I like it.

is Asuka supposed to ripping away her bandages? That's kinda cool, although I think she'd need a few more months to heal all of the THAT off. It was 9 whole freakin' EVAs, and they could fly!

Damned Vultures! LOL

soumakyo In reply to ChaosNightbringer [2008-01-12 16:00:59 +0000 UTC]

On the other hand, her body kind of melt away before err "magically reappearing", so I guess her injuries might be healed.
And no, she doesn't rip her bandages in the movie, that's why this is "after the end"

ChaosNightbringer In reply to soumakyo [2008-01-14 23:43:25 +0000 UTC]

that makes...sorta sense,...okay, definitely between no sense and about as much sense that the Anime's ending has. Okay, above that level.

Uh...I'd say, half a lick of sense... or fifty percent sense.

Now, what's with the wings?

P.S. I wrote an AU End of Evangelion where Shinji becomes the 17th Angel Gabriel and Rei gets magically pregnant with Jesus Christ, Kaworu merges with the first MP EVA, and becomes Adam, and Shinji merges with 01 and kills him, then when Asuka thought he was dead he's really not and when she calls him stupid, he punches her in the face then tells her he loves her.

Basically.

Finally I come to comment this: Really awesome.... and youΒ΄re right, without the wings it would look pretty boring... Hmmm, but isnΒ΄t Asuka supposed to have both sleeves off there... CanΒ΄t really remember... fascinating angle, btw...

I had been intrigued by the series for a long time, but I had never gotten to see all of it. I finally did when I was visiting my sister last year, and noticed that my brother-in law had a copy. I liked it-at first. But I am the sort of man who simply can't separate cool action and drama elements from a horrible philosophy under it all. My brother in law gos for the usual compartmentalizing seditionist rational to justify his love of the series despite its diseased philosophy, "It's only a story!". Ah, of coarse, and Walt Disney's Fantasia was just an inkblot on cellophane. I have read enough of Frederick Nietzsche and his arch rival GK Chesterton to know when the whole "God is dead, we must make a new god" scenario is being subtly shoved down my throat.
Anyone who dismisses this as unimportant, but then sees films such as "Nussica of the Valley of the Wind" and goes on for hours about how the environmental philosophy behind it is so important, is compartmentalizing their mind in the worst way. We need to be consistent.
Further more, if a director must "Spaketh the word of Zarathustra", he could at least do so intelligently. The disturbing psudo-religious elements toward the end of the series are neither blasphemes nor controversial. A true blasphemy makes sense, even as it enrages the orthodox. This "clone of God" stuff is pure nonsense. Real controversy makes people think. The fact that so many people are defending this rot in such vague ways shows that they are hardly thinking about it at all.
Why is it that Tezuka Osamu is the only Japanese master who ever did Christianity justice?:

*Sigh*, How St. Francis Xaiviar must be weeping. Curse the Shoguns and their bigoted ways! Still, its ironic that, even though most Japanese know little of Christian culture, they have embraced plenty of the merits of Christian Philosophy. This occured to me as I was reading the first installment of the very engaging "Togari": [link]
This character Tobei was so mistreated as a child in 1690's japan that turning to crime to survive was inevitable, the difference being that he went from shear desperation to reckless enjoyment of crime. My point is, when he is resurected, he encounters friendliness and generosity in modern Japan that was totally alien to him, and starts to have a profound effect (I think; the first edition just came out in english, so I can't be sure; [lots more in french, in case your intersted]). Christian or not, this change in modern Japan is clearly from Christian influence. Its just so sad that it took Comander Perrie's threats rather then Xaiviars love to get it going.

that's because, to sum up, japanese don't know shit about christianity, meh

Actually, in the upcoming rebuild of Evangelion movies, they said they'll try to be more christianly accurate, but you shouldn't expect much, though.
