Description
There are two types of things in the worlds : the things that go aay, and those which stay. I guess my fanatism toward Evangelion goes in this second category. I've over-loved this series for more than 5 years, but I had yet to do a "proper fanart" of it. It's now done. Yay !. This drawing was of course inspired by the viewing for the nth time of the End of Evangelion, but also from the doujinshi "Re-Take" that I bought at the Comicket last week and which is pretty cool ! (it's the complete rewriting of the end of the series, and it's well done !)(for the eva fanatics here : I know the Eva Series 5 are not supposed to have their wings anymore in that final scene, but I just needed wings for the compo so I was a bit sacrilegious...XD)

well she's got ..errr... very flexible shoulders ? XD. No actually I like to draw "protruding" shoulders like that. But this one may be be a liiiiittle bit exaggerated

Ironic, i just watched that (for the actiony action XD), but I oncce again have little to no logic towards where the @&(! they were going with it...I would be very glad if you understood and PM'd me the plot for ending the most incomprehensible anime made in my lifetime...Acctually, I deefy you and will be in debt to you (but not with money

ah ah, sorry but no. It would just take waaay too much time. Moreover, you can't really understand the End of Evangelion without understanding the series itself before. So I advise you to go and extensively look around around the web for explanation pages about Eva (althought a lot of the Evangelion website I liked back in the 20th century are now dead). Waisting several nights collecting bits of information from here and there is actually a lot of fun (oh, well maybe I'm the only one to think that way)

Wow. Just. . . wow. This is an absolutely stunning piece of EVA art. I can remember I had a poster of Asuka and Shinji on the beach days (or months) after the Third Impact and it was just so special and unique... she still had her bandages. Anyway, very, very beautiful. :]

Wonderful. Everything was accurate (arm,etc) + cuteness = wonderful.
One thing though. I might be wrong, but Asuka's eyes are brown ONLY in this segment in the End of Evangelion. There was a theory that Asuka was actually a merging of Asuka, Rei, and Misato (with the brown eyes and bandage). Now, unless this pic depicts the shedding of those other selves, leaving only Asuka (which would be an awesome interpretation), I just wanted to point this out.
One question: Is she smiling? I was wondering because of her last line in the movie.
I'm not being nitpicky, just curious as to your interpretation of this. Evangelion is so open ended to differing theories afterall.

you know what ? I'm ashamed, because I never EVER heard about this story. How Could I have missed that ?? Argh I have no mean to access a copy of EoE right now, and I just spent an hour on the net searching for a pic of Asuka with brown/red eyes. I foun some forum discussion about it, but no pic ! Argh how am I gonna sleep tonight ? I need a screencap ! /goes hunting again
For the other points :
- Yes she is smiling. This is because this pic is not only inspired by Evangelion itself, but also largely by an Evangelion doujinshi named "Retake". As its name indicates, it is a complete retelling of evangelion from after Shinji is sucked in the Dirac Sea, to the End. This doujin goes further in the Shinji/Asuka relationship (and I mean FURTHER, since it's a totally hentai doujin). I discovered it when I bought the fourth (and last) volume at this summer Comicket. I couldn't undertand everything (dawn Japanese !) but the plot seemed really interesting (really ! and the fourth volume is like not hentai at all). So i thought maybe it was scanlated. Bingo, the english version is very easily findable in torrent format. Read it (if you're of legal age ! .. or if you don't care XD) and you'll understand why she's smiling. And incidentally it also show that she is Asuka only.
- The wings are attached to one of the fallen Eva series in the background, so they're .. er, halfway in the background !
and that's about the longest comment I've ever made on DA.. ah, evangelion !

Me too. ^__^ I've never made that long of a comment. But it is always going to be like that with Evangelion.
Because I'm a bit of an Eva-nerd, I watch the commentary on the show. It gives insights I've seen and heard of, as well as ones that I have not. I rechecked, and the eyes look brown, but it might be because the sky and LCL are all red.
I might send you a note if I can't find it, but if you wouldn't mind sending me the website for the doujinshi, that would be so very helpful.

heh... *hides in a corner* yeah.. I'm far too obsessed with evangelion. BUT! I do artwork... *alot of it evangelion* most of it is only "eh" work, but every so often i get something good which is usually too large to scan into deviant so most people never get to see my best

naah, you can't never be too obsessed with evangelion ! And for the art, scan it carefully in several times and after that it's easy to put the parts back together with photoshop (not the funniest thing to do, though) and it should be alright ^^

I was browsing through here because I had "The End" by The Doors stuck in my head and wanted to see if anyone had done anything in regards to the song, and I stumbled upon this. Strangely enough, it makes me think of certain parts of the song...
That and this is an outstanding Evangelion fanart- one of the best (if not the best) I've seen yet.
