Description
Well here he is, the scourge of the universe and hopefully the residents of . This is the commander of the Nicton Armada and the conqueror of unsuspecting worlds while being the lord and master of occupied worlds, Nexus. He is vastly powerful, vastly cruel, and very hard to figure out. From being born into a royal family, to being a pariah to his entire race (including his family), to finally stumbling upon a primal minded Nicton parasitic species. After bonding to the Alpha Male of the race, Nexus conquered the parasites and weaponized them. Using them, he began a campaign that was soon echoed throughout the known cosmos. After events that left him fatally wounded, he spent a large time in slumber until he fell to Earth in a small meteorite. Reforming himself with a new race to allow his parasite to feed on, he began to cause trouble in . Β After getting strong enough to travel into the stars, he left Earth and rejoined his armada and evolved himself further into the emperor he is today. Who knows what his end goals are, but for now Nexus will remain a threat.I would like to thank for doing this fantastic art piece. Without this drawing I could only scratch the surface of how imposing Nexus is and the artist did it very skillfully. If I could ever find the artist in real life, I would buy that man several drinks of his choice just to start showing my appreciation.

Well he is a puppet master if you count the trillions of symbiotic aliens he has under his command and the four generals he modified with existing genetics from super heroes. I have to admit I enjoy writing about Nexus; however, he doesn't get that much play to his interactions with heroes given how powerful he is.

Reminds me of Brunia and the Voidians, they are too powerful I have to focus on the Braxxians more fighting the Igarrians just to make it fair. Yet there are times where I just tell the story from the villains perspective.

Alright, well, here goes...
I already told you in a note that this guy reminds me of the Nictus from City of Heroes.Β You then let me know that was the primary inspiration.Β Reading this, I have to say that the resemblance is a little too spot on.Β The character even has the primary color scheme of Romulus, the Usurper of Cimerora (CoH's Ancient Grome).Β The part that concerns me most is that you call it "Nicton" instead of "Nictus," which, frankly, shows you should have applied more effort.
I am left concerned about the story you've given him.Β You've got him set up as a cosmic being, complete with his own legion of followers that span whole star systems.Β This infers that whole PLANETS are already under his heel.Β This makes him something of an overwhelming threat for the Angel Falls series...Β Something that would be best left as a "crossover event," but I've noticed that our little group doesn't seem to handle those well.Β At best, we wind up with a linear event that implies sprawling chaos while a select few writers have their characters save the day or play villain.Β The worst I've seen (and I've seen this outside AF, too), are the ones where only a few characters can do ANYTHING while the rest of the pantheon are inexplicably barred from action, all while still invoking the feeling that it is an epic event.
Now... Despite my concerns, there is a lot to work with here. Angel Falls seems to be working hard to establish itself in the Aurora universe, which... I won't get into my opinions on that here. However, the main point is that the Aurora universe puts a gun to the galaxy's head in the form of the Arion Empire. The original creators had set that group up to essentially be an empire composed entirely of Superman-level people (every last one of them acting as a Flying Brick tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php⦠). This makes them more than a bit overwhelming, and they are in the Angel Falls setting, too, with a couple different characters claiming either kinship or some other relationship to the Arion species.
I feel Nexus's forces serve as an appropriate counterpoint to such a group, and may also provide a good explanation as to why such clearly overwhelming forces haven't descended upon Earth like a flood.Β Because, let's face it, with characters already involved with such cosmic-level shenanigans (even if they are low-tier cosmic-level shenanigans), Earth should be a beacon to the galactic forces that something isn't right on that little blue ball and it will cause them all sorts of problems.Β Having different interstellar armada combating each other hither and thither could do well to disrupt such intelligence.

Nexus was redone with a new backstory which I will highlight in "Project Year One". I am aware of both the figures from CoH, but here is what is different. The armor aspects were from some friends when I asked them to help me improve Nexus' look. As with Sean I don't have a definite armor scheme that is his. I will allow others to make their own armor accordingly, but this was just his look from Champions Online; Romulus had no influence with this look. The term Nicton was something I made up on the spot when I was describing the parasite. The Nicton share more of a similarity of the Venom Symbiote which did come from a planet before it was exiled. The key factors which split up were that Nexus overwhelmed the Nicton Alpha and essentially weaponized it to turn it from a parasite to a mutually beneficial relationship. Even the venom symbiote can be seen as it augmented his generals.
Well to cut it clear here, Nexus isn't going away for a long time. Nexus was born as a polar opposite of Plasmoid, and as long as Plasmoid exists, so does Nexus. I have sent notes to other owners and the system I use is a "Power vs Appearance". With Nexus being as powerful as he is, it entails that his appearances are going to be rare at best. With the "Something Wicked This Way Comes" I will set up a sign up sheet to where whoever wants to participate just needs to comment. I don't believe in excluding arcs from the community when that is the target of my stories. Of course adjustments will be made, but I strive to get everyone their fair share of spot light as seen in my Halloween Story.
Well that is another point I wanted to make with making Nexus so powerful, with the given average of power sets I can safely assume that the flying bricks are the most common. Given Nexus' past power set, it would be near impossible to take him as seriously I wanted him to be if there were flying bricks capable of breaking him. Like above the availability of Nexus himself is rare, but I do have generals to pick up the fights that should deteriorate the idea that flying bricks are the only defense.
Well again, I am more than willing for Nexus to be a threat, but I can't really speak for other people's alien races. I am not going to go out of my way and impose my villain's threat and bar others from stories. If they want to explain that Nexus is the reason why they haven't touched Earth, my note box is open.

I didn't mean that Nexus's armada prevents the Arions wholesale, just that it helps explain why the, up until now, unchallenged legion hasn't completely curbstomped Earth.

To be completely honest I am not familiar with the Arions at all to know anything about them, and they aren't mine to establish that idea. If others want to use the Nicton for that idea, then just send me a note but for now I will just let the Nicton Armada do their own thing. Between Olga's dimensional alien conquerors, jean's matriarch alien empire, and a plethora of others there would be a lot to discuss before that idea could be established.

And honestly it would seem like too much of a debate and spur future aliens from coming into the Angel Falls Universe. I'd rather work in the direction that I have in mind with the Nicton, and play them off in the background when alien stuff goes down.

Well this is his default armor with his 2.0 upgrade, I am not a particular stickler in terms of armor as it allows multiple people to create rather interesting armor designs and it allows them freedom to depict the Emperor. No matter what armor he might be wearing, Nexus' end goals are still the same.
