Description
The Reaper let out a sigh as he completed his latest task of bringing down a local mutagen smuggling operation from entering the harbors of Angel Falls. Regular scum bags, pimps, and crime lords were bad enough but now injecting themselves with unknown and toxic mutagens was stepping up his game, and he loved every moment of it.He pulled back his hood when he arrived back at his underground compound then took his mask off to let his skin breath in the fresh air from being matted under the sweat and maybe blood of his unfortunate targets. He went to a cedar box that sat in front of a holographic touch computer. On it were the list of names and bounties of local criminals, and even a few villains that others had put up. Angel Falls was indeed a town of spandex wearing capes; however, there was good money for mercenary work.
Opening the cedar box he pulled out a cigar as he took in the overwhelming aromas of the rich Colombian cigar. Making a fist, a row of spikes emerged on his forearm where they would behead one end of the cigar. Taking the small box of matches next to the rows of cigars he struck it on the lid, which produced a soft red flame. Taking the lit match he held it close to the cut end of the cigar until the end started to crack and ignite, which followed by a deep breath in to draw the flames deeper and deeper to the cigar. Doing this also drug in a rich tasting smoke that drew into his mouth as he let it sit there for a minute.
After taking the cigar out, he let the smoke funnel out of his mouth like a chimney column until he noticed something off. Staring directly at you, the Reaper only could raise a brow as he stuck the cigar back into the corner of his mouth. "What the hell are you looking at."

First I would like to tip a hat to for designing this marvelous picture of my Vigilante Hero/Wildcard "The Reaper". I love both the emotion of his "What the hell are you looking at." expression on his face after he has a celebretory smoke after a job well done in the field doing whatever jobs he can get hired for such as removing higher leadership in various criminal organizations to rescue operations to even picking up local drug dealers and scaring the living hell out of them. The suit itself was designed by his younger brother; however, most of The Reaper's skills come form his collective military, martial arts, and various other experiences that he has learned over his lifetime. While he might settle for working on the scum of you should fear The Reaper. (brownie points to whoever knows the reference)

Yeah, I pretty much swore off alcohol after 1998, and besides opening a bottle of wine to have a glass once or twice ever since then I haven't drank any alcohol (save for cold medicine).

Nice picture, and interesting character. Very Wolverine-esque.

Well granted some of the inspiration for the Reaper came from Wolverine, but that lies a good chunk of my problems with this character. Separating inspiration from identity is a tough battle especially since Wolverine has become more famous of a name.

Wolverine has been a famous character for more than a few years. While the movies have brought his character more into the spotlight, he's been around long before that, and one of the more popular ones out there. Now, that's not to say there aren't differences in your character and Wolverine, but I could definitely see the influence, that's all I was trying to say. I'm sure one of the big problems you face is the fact that they've changed Wolverine into several different things with several different personas over the years. (Patch, Weapon X, Wolverine, Logan, James Howlette, etc.) It's hard to make something that is similar yet different when they keep changing the original as well.

Well to reveal the net I had to cast to gain the inspiration of The Reaper is that he has the powers of Wolverine, the skills of Batman, and the morality code of The Punisher and Judge Dredd. He is mostly serious, but I am trying to separate his identity from the four mentioned.
I know that the movie Wolverine is different, and I have researched Wolverine immensely as he is my all time favorite Marvel Character. It is true that they have changed him a lot and the move they are pulling to kill him off just makes me facepalm for the effort as they pretty much need Wolverine as the face for the X Men, both the movies and comics. I believe he will be back later either before the next X Men movie or for some other reason to gain popularity back.

That's true. People would stop going to the shows and buying the comics if they killed him off permanently. But trying to separate your characters identity from what you took inspiration from is always the trick. So I wish you luck.

Many thanks, I have a story to run that is a collaboration after his solo story in "In Remembrance". Maybe new ideas will stir while I complete the current list.

Nothing like a victory cigar to show that a job is well done. Β
I would say Don't Fear the Reaper Β the Doors but it was really from the Blue Osyster Cult from their 1976 album Agent's of Fortune.... but it been a long time since I've heard it at my uncles since he still has the album in near mint. Β

I would have him open up a bottle of Jack Daniel's; however, a certain towering Crimson Conservative might be lurking out there, ready to pounce for that bottle....
And that is correct.
