Description
This is the story of 'The Hitch-Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy', perhaps the most remarkable, certainly the most successful book ever to come out of the great publishing corporations of Ursa Minor - more popular than 'The Celestial Home Care Omnibus', better selling than '53 More Things to Do in Zero Gravity', and more controversial than Oolon Colluphid's trilogy of philosophical blockbusters: 'Where God Went Wrong', 'Some More of God's Greatest Mistakes' and 'Who is this God Person Anyway?'Although I felt that the recent movie was the weakest version of the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy of all the version I've seen, it wasn't entirely without merit and it did get me to re-read the series which in turn inspired this deviation.
I've incorporated several elements from the later books, the Krikkit Robot and Colin, but for the most part its all from the first.
I enjoyed doing Zaphod's clothes, I tried to make them as outrageous and clash as much as possible, while with Ford I stuck fairly closely to the BBC miniseries David Dixon type costume.
Arthur is loosely based on Simon Jones, because well, he IS Arthur Dent, they might make a billion versions of The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, but he will always be Arthur.
When I sketched Trillian I pictured the sketch as being blonde, but when I came to colour it I thought that I might go closer to the book's somewhat vague description.
Marvin was inspired by some robots on Futurama, I just wanted to give him the simpliest look possible.
I apologise for not including a towel anywhere, or mice, or the many other things that I sketched but never added for lack of space.
Anyway here's to Douglas Adams, who died from a heart attack while on an exercise machine. A death I'm sure he'd feel appropriately ironic.

haha thanks. I know Douglas Adams was a pro-Mac guy way before it became cool to like Macs. When I learned that, it just felt right to make Deep Thought an Apple product.

I read somewhere that Douglas Adams loved his Apple computer, so I thought I'd put it in for his sake.
