Description
I decided to do another Police Lineup, a group lineup… basically my excuse to draw Erik and Count Von Krolock again… I think this is Erik’s third and Count Von Krolock’s second lineup…The Phantom of the Opera
My obsession with this particular phenomenon is probably pretty well known to my watchers.
Erik, Christine and Raoul are all based on the Original London Cast. Michael Crawford, Sarah Brightman and Steve Barton. We all know how much I love Michael Crawford and Steve Barton, as for Sarah Brightman, well after listening to some other singers as Christine, I think she is probably my favourite, she has a great voice. Note her “deer in the headlights” expression she so often wears.
Elisabeth
Der Tod is based on Uwe Kröger, he was Der Tod in the majority of the reference pictures I had. I have a couple of mp3s of him as Der Tod… the way he sings just gave me the image of this expression.
Elisabeth, well the costume is based on several pictures I found of various actresses who played Elisabeth, Pia Douwes (I believe) is on a couple of mp3s I have, she’s got a nice voice. Umm, this picture looks weird to me… I think it’s because she has a high forehead because her hair is pulled back. Meh, as I say I am not very good at drawing females.
Tanz Der Vampire
Alfred, Sarah and Count Von Krolock.
Alfred was based on Fredrik Wickerts, who I believe is the current Alfred, in the photos I used as references he always looked so childlike and innocent, he looks like a good Alfred, though I haven’t ever heard him sing. Oh and I did my best to replicate his hair… damn it, I cannot draw curly hair! Oh and he’s holding a sponge, in case you were wondering…
Sarah is based on Jessica Kessler, also the current Sarah, I haven’t heard her sing… but she’s sexy, so bleh.
Count Von Krolock, although he doesn’t look it, is based on Steve Barton, woo! Lucky him, he gets to be in the lineup twice.

Oh, thank you! It's been such a long time since I did this I've been thinking I need an updated one with some more modern musicals included.

Tanz!!!!
I wish Michael Crawford hadn't ruined the US version (Though that wasn't the only part that needed help...-sigh-) and I'm reduced to hoping the upcoming UK production might set things right again.

um, come again? They're doing a UK production?! When did this start happening?!
Yeah it was a shame about the US version... why couldn't they do a straight adaptation into English? Is it really that hard to just do it exactly as the German version in English?

What I heard so far on "Carpe Jugulum" is that it's in development.
And yeah, someone thought us Americans would like it better if it was more comedic...still a bad idea. Though there is rumors that Polanski might make it into a film version, however he's doing "Pompeii" now.

If they got David Bowie (As they had planned for the US version, but never happened, sadly) or Sebastian Bach (Rock star turned musical actor), then I'd be very, very happy.

lol
I guess its partly to do with the fact I hate cats, the creatures not the musical, and the idea of a musical about a bunch of cats just doesn't appeal to me... oh and the fact I see Steve as Count Von Krolock, Raoul and the Phantom... not a dancing singing cat

thanks! well until I found your page I hadn't seen any pictures of Sir Steve in his Cats persona... plus I've never actually seen or heard any of the music... I suppose I'll have to do a Steve Barton lineup... actually I think I may have mentioned that above, well this just reinforces that.

wow, der Tod and Krolock really look cool, they got so much character. And Sisi looks like Pia indeed (and Christine *lol* perfect *g*). Why is Sarah's hair so red?
BTW, I think Death's costume in the Vienna version looks much cooler...(and sexier ...but not the white one, that one's bad
). To me Fredrik is a great Alfi, but I always thought Aris Sas was the best one...he can be so "frightened" etc. *g*
meh I wanna see Sisi here...NOW! (but I have to wait until some friends cna join me...)

Spaceman-Chris In reply to isolde [2005-04-10 14:14:07 +0000 UTC]
thanks Umm to answer your question about Sarah's hair, well, in my initial colouring I was using the very basic colours just to remind myself what colour everything was, and well I guess I just left her hair like that, I just didn't think about it really...
Hmm, what does the costume look like in the Vienna version? I've seen a black costume... and a leathery looking one with purple or blue highlights...
I quite like Aris Sas on the cast recording, he reminds me of Polanski's Alfred in the movie for some reason... but then I liked the way Frederik looked as Alfred, so I chose him.
Lol, well I wanna see Tanz Der Vampire and Elisabeth here now! but hmm, I guess that's not too likely in Australia

yes, huzzah for Steve... I am so tempted to create a lineup consisting solely of him I mean he has been Raoul, the Phantom, some charater in Cats, Count Von Krolock... probably others that I'm not aware of...
