A crappy speed-coloring 'cause I was in a bad mood and needed to sooth my bad mood with Viking metal and contortion pictures.I don't know if Vikings *had* barely clothed bendies, but I don't see why not; most cultures had acrobats of some description.

its hard to draw the angle between the shoulders and lower back
..in contortion your butt touches the back of your head(or rests on it )...but its difficult to draw this pose seen from the front...
i do this in front of a mirror..ha ha !!

Waaahh! You gave it too short a description, i'd so totally LOVE to read more about her and what it's like to be a performer of contortion in a Viking country!! On the other hand, you didn't really tell us if she's a real medieval Scandinavian girl or maybe Gytha performing for a Viking metal concert? Either way is cool, but personally i'd think it can be alot of fun to dig deeper into the medieval Vikingland and try to find a place for a contortionist there! I've never heard of Vikings having acrobats... but i just googled... and found an interesting dig site:

So little we know about the vikings, eh? I'm pretty sure if they started doing acrobatics at all, from time to time they'd always have some prodigies who bend better than others, and they'd have the equal amount of female dancers simply because they never treated women as "evil objects" like Christians. On the other hand, maybe they used acrobatics to show off their skills with the weapons, and then female dancers would be a rarity, unless she's a good warrior. But then again, no one said she couldn't be just an entertainer, she could spice up the show... i mean those Cult Rituals of Odin, by letting the male acrobats hold her up in the air while she's bending. And who said the vikings couldn't have special girls trained exactly for that purpose.
Anyways, DAT ASS!! XD It's just sexy!! and arguably the most perfect pose to show it off! I love how everything looks so soft in the picture! And also the way she can reach both of her knees from that pose to pull herself tighter, really reminds me of some Yoga asanas where they use hands to grab some body parts and "lock" the pose for better tension and integrity. And her calm face makes me think of Yoga too, and maybe also that it's not her bendiest pose, but her "very best" is reserved for special occasions. Ok i just figured it's most probably Gytha after all XD <3

Well, you'd be half right. I love the idea of Viking!Gytha, which is why I keep drawing her in her Viking gear. But this time, I was wondering how her specialty would actually function back in the days of yore. I can see her contortion moves coming in very handy at evading capture (or at least confinement) by rival clans and maybe one warrior could catch her in the act of contorting her way out of something.
Said warrior could encourage her bending as a dancer and have her perform at special celebrations and functions.
She is based on Gytha, but alternate Gytha.
Maybe her mystery warrior could dance with her and hold her aloft for poses and acrobatic throws.
This might become something. XD

Oh, love the idea of alternate Gytha! XD Like a different incarnation of her, just to see what she'd be able to do with her skills back in the viking days. I bet a person with her speciality would survive in pretty much any country and any epoch, though! :]
By the way, she really looks perfect in the leotard-ish outfit, specially combined with the viking-boots! <3
Maybe the whole Viking setting is a good chance to write her into that hanging oversplit that you wanted to do several months ago *wink wink*

I like the use of perspective on the pose, and the pose itself. The only issue I find with this is that her left knee (that is, the one on her left and behind her) looks like it's bent out of shape. Then again, it could just be me.

I spent like literally half an hour in my room trying to replicate this position, I pushed my self to the point I think I almost snapped my neck. I'm sweaty, dirty, and defeated .. but I'm happy I actually gave it a shot!

Your telling me, I did yoga for a while in school and I couldn't even do full bridge. Although I can do plow pose ( and even a little crow pose ). Than again that one is easy .. a lot of girls in the class probably could have done it no problem. The thing is there were a lot of stupid boys in that class so that's why some of the girls were shy. I did it happily, a boy sitting next to the teacher ( in the front of the room ) laughed at me and told his friends I had a ..fat crotch to put it politely. He wasn't even trying to be sneaky about it, he had a loud mouth and I heard everything.
