Description
[ nayda ]fetal- fire- elf- phoenix-girl i drew for my friend Raychel for her birthday tomorrow. we talk about deep stuff a lot.
man it is ridiculous how few of my Copics work anymore. and using them with a Sharpie is insane. fortunately they were too dry to really drag a lot of the black away from the lineart. i yellowed the paper a little in a channel mixer because the markers didn't scan too well and the black was grey.
see guys, trad art is still fun.
AND NOW WE BEGIN SUPER PROPAGANDIC PRO-LIFE SPIEL COMPLETE W/ LITERATURE no just kidding. it does kinda look like me though, have a hard time not doing that when i draw women.

Do you know, I can picture this brillient drawing as being a tattoo design! That'll be wicked
But apart from that, it's stunning and I love the firery hair

thank you so much!
my friend Raychel, the girl i gave this to, actually has asked for me to re-work it with more feathery-design for her to get it as a phoenix-type tattoo.

The fierce, fiery colours with the sad, painful pose really captivates me. nicely done.

Ya know, I've never used copics before. I should probably try it.
I like the pose, and the colors and shading suits. The picture creates a mental circle...it's a cool effect.

thanks.
copics... can be a headache if you don't have the right paper... mine were almost dry, and i draw on cardstock. = not fun.
but sure, if you can afford them, they're worth the while.

This would make a fantastic tattoo fyi... I love the design, it's angsty, it's sad, it's sorta empowering looking too, like you're your own best protection... at least that's what I get from it...
Very cool

i just consider those bad drawings. no matter how on-target they are with their proportions.

mmmm, marker texture.
that aside, I love the composition. She's upside-down, AND it flows to the right from the left. Bright colors are a nice contrast to the emotion.
stopping, as this probably makes no sense to anyone but me.
beautiful.

That's really well drawn, I'm sure your friend will love it. Is it just me or is there actually a thrill for us photoshop people to use markers, especially sharpies? The thrill of not having (ctrl+z) to fall back on, how everything is just so final... how your skills are truly tested. This piece shows that you know what you're doing and you're in control of your art. Sorry, I sort of went on rambling there for a bit... -__-*

sparkpenguin In reply to misterzubair [2008-02-25 09:54:36 +0000 UTC]
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH I AM NOT A PHOTOSHOP PEOPLE
but i understand your sentiments... it is fun to sit in freont of a piece of paper and contemplate your next move. it's even more pressure when the final product IS the hard copy, there's no "oh i can fix that after the scan " and i gotta admit, i did draw it in pencil before the sharpie.
but oddly enough i didn't erase anything but guidework. this was one of those spontaneous "oh shit i better do something good with this" images.

Ah, sorry! I didn't mean you, I used "us" as in people I work with! The whole ramble sort of was how I felt and then reflecting how much I appreciate those that use markers for that direct approach. Sorry!
