All of the characters are 17 in this story, but Lillith is the oldest by 6 months.

Now that Nano's over, I'm gonna look for a good day to get back to streaming production to finish the reshoots. Since the first few chapters require no editing, I might upload those in the meantime.

He'd hail a cab to the dimension where the Voidspawn are replaced with bikini-clad humanoid aliens and less nihilism; something out of a typical harem action comedy series.

Funny you should say that.

The opening where Trent describes the Voidspawn: Images of Horror by Two Steps From Hell

After Trent kisses Ellen: Start Me Up by The Rolling Stones.

This song continues in a scene I deleted since the mechs are hard to make.

*shot of the main characters doing a power walk*

Trent: This is Class C3's First Response.

*shot of mechs blowing up Voidspawn*

Trent: Our job is to protect the class in the event of an emergency.

*shot of Trent getting out of his mech*

Trent: And since the girl-to-guy ratio is 100-to-1 in the Mech Core...

*cutaway to a bunch of girls cheering on the docking bay as he opens the door. Trent is startled*

Trent: ... I'm the only guy in my class.

*cutaway to Trent staring at Katya, but too nervous to say anything. Serena's voice-over starts up as it cuts to the classroom.*

Serena: Take some initiative!

Ariel: What have you got to lose?

Trent: My dignity.

Lilith: What's a dignity?

*cut to Ellen and Trent in an arcade together*

Ellen: Junior Kestrel, you're too scared of things going beyond your control because you're afraid of the unexpected.

*cut to Trent fighting the Voidspawn in his mech alongside a few other mechs. Ellen's voiceover continues as it cuts back to the classroom, where Trent is having lunch alone and Katya walks in.*

Ellen: All you need to do is just let go...

Everything else: Man of Steel Remix by Fired Earth Music, though it'd be edited to fit the trailer.

I wonder what Voidspawn taste like.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Spaztique In reply to Blitz-Assault [2013-11-20 10:37:22 +0000 UTC]

Imagine if excrement could have excrement, and it was the worst, most horrible kind of feces you could imagine. Now, imagine that excrement of excrement eating all of the worst diarrhea-inducing food in the universe, and that has the smelliest defecation in the known universe, and then you set that on fire. The fumes would be only 1/100th of the flavor of a Voidspawn.

Or, to use a less nasty metaphor, imagine we were talking in terms of spiciness insteading of nastiness. Compare a pimento pepper (100 Scoville heat units) to a chipotle pepper (5000~ SHU) to a Habanero pepper (200,000~ SHU) to Resiniferatoxin (16,000,000,000 SHU and lethal to humans). The Voidspawn would have a spiciness of 64,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 SHU.

If you want to smell the worst-smelling thing in the universe, look no further than the Voidspawn. Touching a Voidspawn is lethal: the moment your skin touches it, your entire body dries up as it absorbs your moisture. Imagine this happening to your body instantaneously.

Also, sleep well, kids!

If you think this is bad, just wait until you find out why the Voidspawn have invaded the solar system. (Those I have revealed it too were squicked out of their minds.)

And if you think that's bad, you should see my actual nightmares: this is tame compared to the stuff I normally dream about.

Pomf reference. Dammit.

Now allow me to offer some wise words appropriate for this story...

Character is what you are in the dark.

It's not what you are underneath... it's what you do that defines you.

But I gotta ask, was this inspired by Muv-Luv Alternate by any chance? The way you include genocidal aliens, mechas, and a harem protagonist with the intention of deconstructing romance tropes is certainly reminiscent of a thing I still have to read

And your use of stock props was very creative!

Chances are, they finally defeat the Voidspawn, but are left with an entire civilization to rebuild.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Spaztique In reply to KappaScience [2013-11-16 16:16:50 +0000 UTC]

Civilization has already been wiped out. Survivors live in walking military bases called Mobile Colonies and subsist on hydroponic food and soy products. Without the moon, Earth's rotation is screwy, resulting in devestating weather: lows of -32 F, highs of 112 F, wind speeds between 30 and 90 daily, and days/nights no longer follow a disctint pattern.

There won't be a civilization to rebuild: if they win, there're starting from scratch.
