"Why is it that, as the female characters on 'Zim' get older, their clothes stay the same size?" This question occured to me one day as I was browsing this site, looking at pictures of Gaz and Tak. As I looked at them I noticed that most of the time whenever they were pictured as teenagers their clothes were always either so tight that it's a wonder they could even breathe, or really freakin' short and barely even there. I just wondered why they never bothered to buy bigger size outfits as they aged 0_oThis little cartoon is not intended to offend anyone, cause a lot of people I know depict Gaz and/or Tak this way and they're always good drawings, and hey, if that floats your boat then fine. Even I've done some sexy-type pictures of the characters, but my beef is I never see Dib or Zim pictured this way. They're always pretty much fully clothed and don't have every part of their anatomy outlined in tight leather. Why is it always the females who get sexed up like this? It just irks me a bit. But it's just my opinion, being a female myself and all *shrugs* Well, whatever, take it or leave it. Or just lighten up and laugh at it, okay?

Gaz is obviously not growing to become a beautiful Goddess, maybe just quite pretty, too skinny with Baggy Clothes.
But not a super model.
The same for Dib, he will grow to be better looking than his dad, but the typical''OMG he's super hot!''thingy.
And Zim...well he might just grow 3 or 4 inches...

Zim's already an adult. He's a fully trained invader. And from what I've read from the script content that never made the show, he was a weapons developer, (Or something along those lines) before becoming an invader. Chances are, he'd age and die before Dib grew to adulthood... Assuming their age cycle is even remotely similar to a human's.

There is one more thing I'd like to add about this piece, because it bothered me what someone said to me about how the 'Big fat Gaz laying around on the couch playing video games' thing just didn't work for her character, and I have this reponse to make: What dream world do YOU live in? Nothing personal to whoever said that, but I'm truly mystified. Not only did I wonder why IZ girls get slut-ified while working on this, but why WHY do they always end up looking like super-models when they grow up? Oh, I can hear people now: Oh I see, she must be some jealous, ugly, fat, bitter girl to ask this question. No. No, no, please God don't make me kill you, NO. I'm FINE with myself for the most part. I have my moments of self-doubt, yes, but EVERYONE does at one point or another, but that is NOT why I bring it up. It just perplexes me is all, mostly in the case of Gaz (not so much Tak), who whenever pictured older is turned into this tall, thin, perfect goddess. News for you people (especially the guys in the room): Gaz likes to chow down on pizza and other junk. She sits and plays games all day or watches TV. She doesn't do a whole lot else, just eats and plays video games. That's it (go watch the show if you don't believe me--I'm sure my friend DibsTheOne would agree with me on much of this). Now as much as you guys would like it to be true, people who live the Gaz lifestyle generally do NOT turn out looking thin and gorgeous. Sorry, but it IS the truth. I'm not ripping on Gaz here (she is what she is), NOR am I ripping on people who like pizza and Playstations (I happen to like pizza quite a bit), and even if people DO turn out less-than-stunning for whatever reason I am MOST CERTAINLY NOT ripping on them. I don't, in fact, think it IS ripping on someone just because they are a little imperfect physical-wise (I know I'M not), because I don't happen to care about a person's looks, but people are products of their lifestyles, and to portray someone such as Gaz as as growing into a super-thin model-type is insulting to those of us who live in the real world (not that living in the "real world" applies in this case; here I am worrying about how the laws of physics affect a CARTOON CHARACTER -_- *sigh* but you can see my point, yes?) Tak, well...she's an alien, so I can't say she lives under the same physical laws as humans, so that's why it bugs me more in Gaz's case. God I really wish I could get this across without sounding like I'm on some major PMS rant and thank you SO much if you can get my point and understand that I'm not trying to insult anyone-- there are some genetic "luckies" out there who can do whatever the hell they want and still look great and be skinny, and Gaz for all I know could be one of them, or she went on a health kick in high school or whatever fanfictionized scenario you may choose to make up, or you can argue that all Jhonen's characters are really skinny and blah blah blahbitty blah. But I don't care about any of the various reasons people may have for skirting the natural laws. You can come up with ANYTHING you like if that's what you want-- it's a freaking free country-- but all I'm saying is maybe--just MAYBE, in my opinion--Gaz might just grow up NOT looking like a model. Horrifying, I know, the idea that she just might end up looking *gasp* average, but I hope people will at least understand how I might just be getting sick of this nonsense. And, again, I've noticed this shit only seems to come up in the case of the girls. In the made-up scenarios I've seen in fics and in art, if Dib or Zim turns out physically flawed he's still cool, and infact thought of as angsty in a sexy way, and it's an excuse to create this dark, introspective character. A girl though, if not thin and perfect, is just another loser beyond redemption, pitied at best (and of course I'm speaking hypothetically here, as I have no examples of this sort of situation to work with, sadly. If you know of some fic or drawing where this is true I'd LOVE to see it). Come on, do I really have to try and explain in this much? It's pretty evident that this is a sick double standard.
In conclusion, if someone can envision a future Gaz who is physically perfect, then I can picture one that is flawed, and NOT have her be any less of a character because of it. That is all I'm saying. I must rest now. Thank you for your patience -_-

I feel the same way..
But the artist in me likes drawing thin, pretty girls. It's a.. disease, of some sort, to get everything perfect. Because you can't control everything in your life, the few things you can control you want to make perfect (in your opinion). It's like anorexia or bulemia. I'm not even kidding. You know it's bad for you (or, in this case, not realistic), but you can't stop because it's something you can control, something you [want to] believe will make yourself better (when it won't).
Now, however, I'm going to add some counter-points that may or may not be true.
- Gaz may or may not be an experiment created by her 'father' Professor Membrane, and as such, could have a different physical/digestive chemistry.
- Tak, well, she's not even human.
But, again, I'm not attacking you either. Nor am I trying to discredit you--I just believe that both sides have points.

*points to tak* THAT is how I feeel when my mom makes me go to weddings. SHe forces me to wear a reeeally tight dress that makes me dizzy frmo lack of circulation by the time it's over...
And damn, Tak's shoes would get REALLY freakin painful if her feet started growing. I mean, with the metal and all, and on a hot day, you'd fry your feet off...

The reason is that males do like the sexual type stuff. I myself have been tempted to the brink of brain implosion, and it just doesn't seem to do the same for females.

I had Zim outgrow his little Invader outfit. He doesn't look 'sexed up' though, he only grew like 2 inches, just enough to have the dress (X3) get too short and the gloves not cover his elbows anymore. He didn't get a new outfit because he was convinced the Talest would send him a new uniform. That and he has a 'thing' about wearing human clothing.

I usually stay away from that kind of style, so I haven't noticed. This is a very nice piece of art, though, but I prefer the original style personally.
