Maybe six of Queen Chrysalis's changelings took their forms, started causing trouble all over Equestria, and everypony thinks the real Mane 6 committed the crimes. Even though they didn't do it, the Mane 6 decided to come along quietly and not put up a fight.
(After all, as cops always say, "You have the right to remain silent, anything you say may used against you in a court of law.")
