Or, hell, anything that's actually fucking endangered (I just thought of those off the top of my head) before you start whinging about "SAVE THE WOLVES SAVE THE WOLVES!!!".
[link]
Although the Grey Wolf still faces some threats, its relatively widespread range and stable population trend mean that the species does not meet, or nearly meet, any of the criteria for the threatened categories. Therefore, it is assessed as Least Concern.
The IUCN Red List lists grey wolves as Least Concern.
And do you know how many vulnerable, endangered, and critical amphibians there are?
Oh wait, they're not cute/"badass" enough. Sorry.
Wolves are not fucking endangered. Unless you can show me solid, unbiased evidence, you are full of shit.
Save the California Condors. You know, something that's actually critically endangered?

Never mind humans!! What about the fucking Siberian tigers???

These monsters have been killing off wolves in Sikhote-Alin since the Russians declared tigers a protected species!! Our time is critical, we must sign a petition to demand an immediate tiger cull, before they spread to other parts of Asia and kill more wolves!!!

THE WAY NATURE INTENDED
Are you being deliberately thick? Look at the fossil record; it seems "nature" has been killing off its own creations long before humanity arrived. All living organisms of today's era comprise only 1% of Earth's inhabitants. What happened to the other 99% while humanity was still in a newt?

thats the way it was suppose to happen, killing for food, and for land, populations stayed the right size, and if ever grew over, they went back down shortly after. Some killed, natural causes. thats the way things happen rightly, not because some asshole was bored, or you wanted a new forest-view appartment built. your being ignored just like the crack hole that sent the last message i ignored.

Extinctions have been going on way long before humans arrived. It seems nature is completely indifferent as to wether or not a species survives or not.

You make it sound as if someones making a personal attack on you. You opened yourself up to it. If you have a problem with what I say, don't reply to this comment. I'm not about to troll someone. We are trying to take care of animals, please don't get mad because we care about more than those listed as Least Concern. May I quote? "Although the Grey Wolf still faces some threats, it's relatively widespread range and stable population trend mean that the species does not meet, or nearly meet, any of the criteria for the threatened categories. Therefore, it is assessed as Least Concern." This is as opposed to, say, "Listed as Critically Endangered (Possibly Extinct), as it has not been recorded since the nineteenth century despite some surveys within its range, and it is quite a colourful and large bat. It may have been the target of hunting and may now be possibly extinct. There is one unconfirmed record of a bone from this species from 1992."

says wolf is endangerd in some places. NJ says Bobcats are endangerd.
I recall reading they want to tweek the way it works, so if NJ has 400 of something, and 4 other states have 79,000 of the same animal, and another has 1,909, and Florda has 90 and 39 other states have 5,000, it is not endangerd. or something. or "if Alaska has 9,000 wolves and Maine has 500, wolves are doing fine because they are 9,500 wolves strong

Yes, they are others. So why are you letting them die? Wolves are not endangered. But you are not thinking about that. You simply think, wolves are pretty, so they deserve to live. We should put our conservation efforts to endangerd animals, not wolves.

Give me solid evidence that wolves are endangered.
Get yours straight.
The IUCN lists them as least concern. the IUCN is essentially the definitive list of which animals are critical, endangered, and threatened. I care about all the animals-- even ones that aren't cute. More amphibians are endangered than any other group of animals, so why don't you start yelling about them? Are they just ~magical~ and *~*graceful*~* enough?
Pointing out that they're not endangered doesn't mean I think we should go gunning them down. Not everyone has to agree with you.
I believe them a thousand times more than I ever will someone yelling at me that I'm uneducated and a stupid jerkface just because I don't think wolves are Godtm.

"Wolves are not endangered."
Did I do a good job at interpreting it? I think I did.
I didn't see the word "slaughter" or "kill" or "ihatewolves" ANYWHERE in that. Feel free to point out where you're seeing it.
Grey wolves are not on the endangered list. That's as simple as it is. There are animals that need some serious protection that are dying out and in critical condition. Go fight for the rights of those. Priorities, you know?

It's only the majority of gray wolves that aren't endangered; their red and Ethiopian friends are still in a bit of a pickle.
Now if only someone would give red wolves, Ethiopian wolves, Mexican gray wolves, and European gray wolves (and not to mention the many non-canine endangered species) the least bit of positive attention, I'd be much happier, and I'm already a pretty happy person XD

With all due respect, what the hell are you on about?
It's the IUCN Red List.
Pretty much the definitive list of which animals are endangered, and which aren't. If it says they're not endangered, then it means they're not.
Period.
Get off your high horse and give me some real evidence (IE from a site that ISN'T "OMG SAVE THE WOLVES SAVE THE WOLVES!!!" or a wolfaboo resource), or you're just full of self-righteous shit.

Turret-Wolfheart In reply to Spikytastic [2010-01-29 23:52:58 +0000 UTC]
Okay, first off, I've studied wolves my whole life. Second the IUCN only uses number of population to determine risk of extinction. It dose not take into account original numbers. i.e. what the population was before human maid them endangered in the first place or political influence. The wolf is one of those things that people are ether for or opposed to, you don't get many people that'll say, "oh I don't care about wolves eater way." For example in Yellowstone when the wolves were taken off the protected list immediately there was a moment to "exterminate" (and yes that was the word the people starting the movement used not the protesters) their 2000 wolves to 200. Are wolves in risk off becoming extinct? no, not over night but it doesn't take very long for them to become that way if protection is removed. the other thing is the original numbers, wolves have a very slow growth rate. (under normal conditions without human interaction) in order for wolves to spreed out over a larger area their numbers need to grow and if protection is removed and the numbers are not allowed to or even reduced (witch is often the case) how will the wolf be properly restored in the environment? what I'm saying is the wolf dose need all the help it can get from organizations you seam to not like for defending them, in order to stay from become "endangered" again because they are endangered in the since that people will no doubt make them endangered if given the chance.

What about the mexicangray wolf that only numbers in the 50's left in the wild, fagot? Also just because I like wolves doesn't make me a wolfaboo, that would imply that I think they are the highest form of life or superior over other wildlife, However I don't. I just value life more then most do and to shove something to the side or even bashing it because, "they're just too popular," is a petty endeavor indeed. Thanks for commenting on a comment mouths old showing you truly have nothing better to do with your life.
