That's a good question!
(first of all I assume you mean Stardust, Destiny's daughter)
Destiny never wanted Stardust, and feels like half of her life has been taken away from her. If that makes sense.
But even so, Destiny doesn't really have a family or friends anymore, so Stardust might be the closest dragon she has left to "love". I'd say Destiny is more protective of Stardust than really loving of her. Destiny's made a lot of mistakes and lost everything because of them, she doesn't want to watch Stardust do the same, if she can help it.

Still though, Destiny is nowhere near a good mom.

Sorry if my explanation is a little confusing. It's a little hard to describe.

Do basically destiny has lost all that she has loved and she does love stardust in a way that makes her care
