A long, long time ago in Chimarra's history, while it was a less dry and hot continent, SlimeScales actually lived above ground in lakes rivers and streams. But as it started getting hotter and part of the sea receded back and left a scorching desert, SlimeScales had to move into darker places like caves to keep damp and cool. And that's still where they reside to this day.

SlimeScales have some small, soft scales, but most of them is just more sensitive and fragile skin, but from this skin they can secrete a poison that can kill anything that tries to eat them. It isn't a super voluntary reaction and happens mostly when they get distressed or in pain - which is probably why they're such a placid or chill tribe overall, to avoid most stressful things, because believe it or not, the poison can actually also affect other SlimeScales, though it takes more to kill them, they'd still get quite sick if they ingest another SlimeScale's poison.

SlimeScales have a joined kingdom and strong loyalty with ShadeScales, after they helped each other fighting back the SirenScales. Before they joined kingdoms, SlimeScales had a fairly loose 'monarchy' that was mostly just a female SlimeScale was named Queen and she was able to suggest things for the kingdom to agree on. When she died, the next Queen was either one of her daughters, or just another SlimeScale who wanted to become Queen. It wasn't exactly the best system, and the Queen couldn't really do anything.

ShadeScales on the other hand before the union with SlimeScales, had a King in place who definitely had more control over what the kingdom did. When the King was too old or died, the crown would go to whichever son was most competent - and if none of them were, the King would be a placeholder until there was some male royal heir would was deemed good for leading.

Now the Slime & Shade Kingdom is lead by one 'SlickScale' (or SlimeShade hybrid) monarch in the top position (can be Queen or King - usually king but not always). Technically in that position they had the most authority on a lot of decisions, but they also had to take two mates (sometimes romantically, sometimes just for their skill, usually both). One mate was full ShadeScale, and the other full SlimeScale, and together all three can work together to find the best solutions to benefit both Slime and ShadeScales. If the top King or Queen came to one decision, but if both their mates disagree on it completely, that decision won't stand until there can be an agreement.
The top monarch is only allowed to have royal dragonets or heirs with their two mates, any dragonets they had before the position can't become heirs. When they die, the most competent and able heir is chosen to be the next top monarch with new mates. When a new monarch and mates are in power, they're usually accompanied by the old mates for a short period of time until they deem the new triumvirs okay. The old mates can force the monarch to change his or her mates, if the new ones aren't good.

I did my best to explain their system, hope that made sense.

SlimeScales actually have gotten a bit more active after ShadeScales joined them. Before SlimeScale society was mostly quiet and laid back, but now with actual leaders, they've been more engaged with everything.

SlickScales, or SlimeShade hybrids usually have some interesting combinations of the SlimeScales' colorful, poisonous skin and ShadeScales' shifting scales. Some SlickScales can even shift some of their scales between colors if they're lucky.

SlickScales are surprisingly pretty stable as hybrids, though some have breathing/gill problems or hypersensitive skin. But SlickScales can have problems with less fertility, and don't tend to produce offspring at all with other SlickScales. SlickScale-SlickScale offspring are extremely rare for now.
Some SlickScales can't regulate their own poison from their skin, which usually tends to kill the dragonet before or soon after they hatch, unfortunately. But that's about the worst that can happen.

SlimeScales eat bugs and other small fishes that might be in the caves. Their long, sticky tongues make it easy to slurp up bugs.
They love bugs.

SlimeScales have super good night vision, and they have a very good sense of touch to move around the caves. The horn on their nose actually helps them move through the darkest places underwater, so when they bump their nose into rocks, they don't get scratched constantly.

SlimeScales have external gills and regular gills. SlimeScales can actually live pretty well, if they lose or don't have their external gills, but tend. to have more trouble without their regular ones. Both their external and regular gills though, are super sensitive to and damaged by salt water, Not to mention their skin dries up fast in salt water, since SlimeScales need to keep damp to stay hydrated. Harsh sunlight or heat also dries up SlimeScales pretty bad, and they like to avoid it.

SlimeScale names tend to be cave things or animals, relating to water or wetness in someway, slime stuff or sometimes relating to poison. Sometimes just noises like 'Squelch'

If SlimeScales suddenly went out into completely bright sunlight, their eyes would probably be damaged. They're not very fast on land, only pretty good swimmers in the water. They have no physical adaptations to really fight things off other than their poison skin.

Honestly, SlimeScales were considered a bit 'ugly' by most tribes, since they are a bit gross. ShadeScales have warmed up to them inevitably though.
