Welp, I'm finally uploading this redesign of my WOF fantribe, Deepwings.

I redesigned Deepwings because I found many flaws within the original design; back legs were too long, tail too floppy and the wings were barely finished in the first place. I also wanted to touch up a bit on the culture and history of the Deepwings as well.

Generally a lot of the information in the original reference still applies to the redesign. Deepwings still cannot fly, their eyes still can glow, they can still survive in extreme depths, etc. I recommend you look at the original Deepwing reference if you haven't, since it has a lot more information given about Deepwings.

Now, there are a few things different in Deepwing lore, for instance:

Deepwings can be colors between blue, purple, muddy reds (rarely) and grey. Deepwings CANNOT be green. Deepwings are almost never lightly colored.

Animus Deepwings are rare, because the Deepwing's animus blood is spread thin among the common dragons. So Animus Deepwings can exist, unlike in the original Deepwings.

Deepwing language, called 'Deep Aquatic', still is simpler than Seawing Aquatic since Deepwings don't have as many lights as Seawings. Deep Aquatic makes up for this by also including some body language elements to help communicate. A Deepwing that can speak fluently on land, might still make normal Deep Aquatic gestures as a force of habit.

Blind Deepwings are traditionally killed so that they may not suffer the rest of life. A blind Deepwing is essentially both blind AND deaf underwater. It may seem cruel, but blind Deepwings who weren't killed struggle and end up dying on their own. Rarely the family of a blind Deepwing may be able to get their blind Deepwing living on the surface in some way, but this is rare.

There is legend of an ancient animus touched bracelet owned by the royal family. It's a bracelet that allows the wearer complete control over an animus' spells. It's a bracelet that forces an animus controlled by it to do the spells the bracelet wearer commands them to. An animus controlled by the bracelet can't even make spells of there own if they are under the control of it. Not to mention the bracelet is unbreakable and non-erodible.

The bracelet was made by a Deepwing animus long ago known as Typhoon. Typhoon went down in history as a coward who let his tribe be destroyed by the Seawings during the Deepwing-Seawing war.

The two large claws on the 'wrist' of Deepwing's wings is very effective stabbing and slicing through other's flesh. So a go-to move for Deepwing's is just to flail their tough wings forward.

Deepwings can launch themselves out of the water with great speed, sometimes even their whole body breaking the surface. This gives Deepwings a slight edge over their flying opponents, allowing Deepwings to grab a flying dragon into the water to drown them.

Deepwings are generally larger dragons in size, although they aren't very tall.

Deepwings have shark-like scales as opposed to lizard-like ones. Make sure not to pet a Deepwing the wrong way!

I just wanted to get this whole mess of my chest. I love Deepwings but I'm so terrible at keeping up with them.

Oh and if you're wondering if you can make a Deepwing;
Keep in mind this is still just a sort of concept of Deepwings and I'm not really looking to keep a whole bunch of ocs in line with my current story I have imagined.
Yes, I suppose you can make a Deepwing oc of your own, I won't stop you. Just credit me and keep in mind that any ocs are considered non-canon by me unless I say otherwise.
