Description Teams Mischief and Suledin
Legendary Library Heist Part 1

"Leeleeeeeee, it's less fun in the snow if you're riding on my back," moaned a Purrloin through the String Shot harness his partner had attached to him. The Sewaddle on his back straightened up and looked around the snow-covered village.

"Mister Sly, you spent too much time playing around and I could barely move in the snow, so I thought this was the best way to meet with the guild leaders on time," the Sewaddle murmured, as she focused on a dark colored building with a boarded up entrance. "Master Devonshire's law firm is straight ahead. According to the letter, we need to use the back entrance to meet with the guild leaders." She dismounted, as Sly removed the string from his face, and then proceeded to dig around through the snow near the back until he found a rock that contained a switch to a trapdoor. He pressed it, and the two went in.

The room was dark, although Sly was able to make out a chess set in the corner, and a desk in the middle of the room, with a large figure behind it. "Yaarr, who goes there?" demanded the figure.

The two small Pokemon jumped. The Sewaddle was the first to gain her composure. "Good afternoon sir. You must be Master Gunpowder. I'm Leilani, and this is my team leader, Sly. We're some of the new recruits, Team Mischief. We sent a letter from Sapling Village a week ago."

"Yarr, that letter. The two of ya seemed, interestin'. However, ya aren't experienced enough to go to the Prismatic Jungle with Devonshire, but there be two other mission for ya. We need info on that blasted dragon the merchants have, Kyurem. Merlot's library is a good place to start, ya know where that is, right? The Rescuers are getting' copies the legitimate way, although I'd rather we steal 'em, but be careful, the Caldera who works there will roast ya, especially you lass," Gunpowder said as Leilani shivered, "Also, an ex-rogue is now dead, an' we need as many rogues as we can in the Creeping Forest recruiting members of his gang o' Sneasels and gettin' his treasure before those merchants. Pick a mission, or do both, an' get going."

"Of course sir," said Leilani nodding her head, and climbing on to Sly before he could resist.

"Aye, aye," Sly called as he carried his teammate out of the law firm. Once outside, Sly shut the trapdoor and kicked snow over it and the switch. "I like the Gabite. He seems fuuuun," he purred. "Which should we do first?"

"The library mission sounds more important to the guild, we should probably look into that," the bug type replied hesitantly.

"You sure? We're facing a fully evolved fire type, and you don't like fire at alllll."

"True, but I said look into. I'll go to the library this afternoon. Depending on the set up and where it sounds like the best books are, we'll do the actual mission. Why don't you look around town?"

"If you insist," Sly purred as he removed his teammate's gold bandana. "Don't get buuuuurnttttt."

"I'll try my hardest," Leilani replied as she shuffled through the snow.

Fortunately for the grass and bug type, there was a fairly trampled path of snow leading to the massive castle, although it was still an exhausting crawl for her. She reached the entrance and crawled in. She spotted a massive silver bird and Liligant in a frilly skirt talking inside and slowly dragged herself over.

"So you don't know what's taking Udon so long? All I sent her to do was pick up some extra food and-" the bird paused and looked down at the Sewaddle and sized her up. "What a dreadfully boring Pokemon. Impossible to dress up."

"Madam Merlot, you know you don't have to do that with every Pokemon that takes a step inside," the Liligant replied.

"I suppose maybe you could put a head dress on it, and maybe a little something around the neck," Merlot mused, rummaging through a desk.

"Excuse me, Madam Merlot, could you please tell me where the library is? I'm a rescuer and I was told to get a library card here," Leilani spoke up, her voice quavering. "We need information on the dragon that's been in Tao Village, and your library is supposed to be the best in the area. I'm willing to pay a fee to use it," she added pulling a small pouch with some coins in it from inside her leaves and putting it on the ground.

The Lugia extended a wing out towards the pouch as she replied, "Down the hall, to your left. Magnolia will escort you there, after we get this on you." She used her other wing to place a lacy band by the Sewaddle.

The Lilligant helped put the band around Leilani's neck, which was bare since she had left her bandana with Sly earlier, and added a frilly head piece, then lead her down the hall. It was massive to accommodate the castle's owner and that, combined with the recent abductions of grass types from her home village made the Sewaddle regret coming without Sly.

"You're from Sapling Village, aren't you? Madam Merlot wasn't in a right state of mind when she was kidnapping grass types, but she isn't bad. She has her bizarre obsessions like all Pokemon do. Hers cause discomfort for many, but unfortunately she can't be discouraged," Magnolia said.

"I understand. On our way to Tao my partner stopped to build a snow pile and was convinced that we should live in it," Leilani replied, only feeling slightly better.

"Here is the library," the Lilligant said, opening the door. "You'll find Lexy in the reading area."

"Thank you very much Miss Magnolia," the Sewaddle walked in, and the door shut behind her. The room was brightly lit and held massive shelves of books. One section was shelf free, and contained many chairs and tables, as well as a line of Pokemon standing in front of a fluffy brown Pokemon. That must be the reading area, she thought, as she turned in the opposite direction and began browsing.

Shortly after entering, Leilani felt reenergized and sped up a bit. She looked up and saw that a miniature sun was shining brightly by the ceiling, and must have activated her Chlorophyll. She breathed easily as she went down another row of what looked like some promising history books, before realizing what else the sunlight meant. Fire type moves would increase in power. If she made one wrong move, the Chandelure could easily kill her. Leilani began to search faster, as she reached another shelf an eerie voice came from behind her accompanied by the sound of crackling flame, "Who are you? Are you trying to steal something?"

Leilani turned around and saw a Chandelure behind her, with brightly flickering flames and a broken pane on one of the windows of the lantern that made up its face, and immediately felt scared. "I-I-I was just looking at one kind of selection of books you have," she stammered, trying to calm down.

"You seem nervous," the Ghost type replied moving closer. "Why are you looking at the collection?"

"You see, I enjoy reading, and I recently became a Rescuer at Tao Village. Sadly, they don't have a library. I was planning on asking one of the nice Drifloons if they could take me back to my home town of Sapling Village, but I heard that the library here had an even better selection, so I thought I'd look around, especially since there's such a long line for a card," the words tumbled out of her mouth as the other Pokemon continued to move closer. "I'm sorry if I seem on edge, I'm afraid of fire, it's because of my typing."

The Chandelure stopped moving, then gestured with a lamp like hand. "After what happened with that Sneasel, we don't want Pokemon wandering around here without cards. Get in line," he ordered.

The small Bug and Grass type turned around, and headed back towards the reading area, feeling the heat coming from the Fire type's body as it escorted her. The line moved slowly, giving Leilani ample time to analyze. The Chandelure has been recently injured, but I don't think that will stop him much, she thought. He was also on guard, so some teams must have already broken in, and possibly succeeded in stealing some books, but obviously not the one that Master Gunpowder wanted, or we would have just been told to go to Creeping Forest. I was in the area with history books, so that may have been where a lot of the thefts were. Then perhaps mythology would be a better place for Sly to look.

"Do you want a library card?" asked a fluffy Eevee sitting in large chair. "You're next and I don't want someone wasting my time. I haven't gotten around to anywhere near as much reading as I wanted to today."

"Oh, I'm sorry sir, I was lost in thought. I was wondering what your mythology books are like," Leilani asked.

"Answer this riddle," said the Lexy. "I have three heads, but only one brain. In the past I had two brains, and was a glutton for food. Now I'm a glutton for violence."

After a long pause, Leilani said, "Hydreigon."

"We have many books on mythology. Merlot's servants have collected books from every region over the course of many years to create an outstanding collection," the small normal type bragged.

"I heard most of her servants are dragon types. Does she have a lot of mythology about them? Sapling Village was lacking in this department."

"You're tricky for a Rescuer. You'll have to answer another riddle," he cleared his throat and recited, "I scream, I cry, I wail, just for your reaction. I appear abruptly and pull your hair just to feed my gems with your fear."

This required a little less thought for the Grass type, "Misdreavus."

"Yes, and we do have quite a lot about Dragons in myths. Do you want a card now?"

"I really like comparing myths to history. Do you have history books on famous dragons?"

"We have a private catalog with information on all sorts of Pokemon," bragged Lexy, his eyes shifting towards a door on the far side of the reading area very briefly. "Sadly, it's for my and Caldera's eyes only. Do you want a card?"

         "Of course, sir."

"Although I don't have wings, I can ride the fiercest winds, with cotton to control my path, only cold can bring me down."

         "Altaria."

"I'm surprised someone from Sapling Village can't recognize a Jumpluff. Come back another day," the Eevee replied scowling.

"Of course, sir. I'm sorry for wasting your time," Leilani replied, bowing her head and walking out.

Leilani found Sly walking out of Spinda Café. As soon as he saw her, he began babbling. "We should go there, when we have some more money. The ice cream is sooooooo good, and the waiter is fuuuun," he purred skipping away from town. "What did you find out?" he asked quietly

"They've found a way to maintain Sunny Day indoors for long periods of time, so the Chandelure's fire moves will be powered up. The Eevee has a private library with information on every Pokemon that's locked away. It's probably heavily guarded. He also said that their mythology and history sections have extensive knowledge about Dragon types, but I think a lot of other Rogues have targeted the history books," the Sewaddle reported.

"Soooooo, it looks like I'll be working solo. Unless I find another team to work with," the small cat pounced on a large snow pile and began rolling in it. "That sounds like a fun way to make new friends."

Did you come up with the riddles yourself or find them somewhere? Those were pretty clever.

I was a little surprised that Gunpowder never corrected Leilani for calling him Devonshire though.

And haha, Leilani and Pickle can be pals in there fire terror.

I came up with them.

Oh, crap, did I do it again? I proofread my Mission 5 entry and accidentally called Devonshire Gunpowder.

Add a fear of extreme cold and they're friends for life.

Okay, these two are officially buddies. Excepting that he's never even heard of manners and she seems to be all over them, but I think it can still work out. xD
