Description Just something random that I've been goofing off with.

The Thornetail (Also called the Honeypot) dragon is a small species of dragon that lives in colonies, much like ants, or bees. A single, large female acts as a queen, laying multiple eggs throughout the week, which hatch into future servants. I've not finished with the information on this species, but I've got some basic stuff.

Queen: The largest member of the colony, being roughly nine inches long. Known for her darker coloration, longer horns, and swollen abdomen. She lays up to 21 eggs in a week (3 a day), which each take a week to gestate prior to hatching. Upon establishing her colony, she will stop leaving the nest, her key duty from that point being to rule - and lay eggs.

Drone: All male members of this species are referred to as drones. They are pale in coloration when compared to females, have thinner stomachs, and very small horns. A large harem of non-related males remain in permanent servitude to the queen, and mate with her whenever the need is present. They also help to care for freshly laid eggs, hatchlings, and juveniles. These individuals produce a waxy substance, which is an extreme asset to the colony. Drones who are offspring of a queen will leave the nest within a few months of life, seeking a mate of their own to serve. Most reach only 5 inches in length.

Worker: Common females live their basic lives serving their mother and queen. Each day, they leave their nest in search of food. They gorge themselves, causing their abdomens to swell to the point that they might be mistaken for pregnant individuals. Collected substances consist of dew, nectar, and fruit juices. Upon obtaining enough food, they return to the nests, where they encase in a porous wax. Water evaporates over time, leaving behind a thick, sugary honey that has a fruity taste to it. Most do not reach more than 6 inches in length. These individuals can change color, much like a chameleon.

Other info:
-Spines are soft when dragon is calm
-Spines stiffen and secret a blood-thinning toxin when the dragon seeks to defend itself
