Thanks. I'm working up the nerve to maybe clutter up YouTube with yet another useless video showing me laying out a page from start to finish. If not that then maybe just sketching or doing a more in-depth step by step. Growing up I never had any way of learing how an artist approaches a page unless I went to a con and asked the 'ros' that question. Now with the internet hopefully I can show people what NOT to do to end up with crummy art like mine.

Nice work!! I dig the colors plus the last panel got a great angle.
My page goes before Boo's. It's going to be neat to see all the different styles in the book.

Hey Ed, I clicked on your page and I'm sitting here wondering why the heck you're not on my watch list. I'm such an idiot, man but I'll fix it right away!
As for the page, I'm glad ya liked. It's my first "official" attempt at coloring something that isn't meant to hide in a drawer in my studio somewhere. I love what you did with your page as well and now I'll stalk ya and peep out all your wonderful work.
Thanks again.

The truth comes out...I like how my page is just this big digital playground where everyone can post hap-hazardly and comment on whatever they like. Now THAT'S community!

Damn brother, er...primo. Remember those damn flyers?!? Wow, memories but let's not get too nostalgic or people will read too much into it.
As for using Alex's account to comment watch out people might get suspicious and read too much into that as well.
As for Aminus...let's not go there.

Looks great. I think the guy under the giant boot should be more or less in shadow, but other than that it looks pretty cool to me.

Yeah, I thought about that but opted to use artistic license so as to not muddy up the shot and help to draw attention to the fact that Mike was under the foot. That also helps to lead the eye to the shot of the girls in the second panel. Still trying out some stuff with the traditional coloring so I'll be tweaking things as I go.
Thanks for looking.

That's a great attitude. Sometimes perfectionism can be a curse.

stalk In reply to Dualmask [2007-10-06 16:32:28 +0000 UTC]
Well look at it this way: Trying to achieve perfection is futile since what you consider as perfection a million others may just consider average and millions more will just consider bad. The key is to never stop setting goals and pushing yourself and allow that to motivate you instead of the illusion of perfection. Life is way too short for chasing ghosts unless you're on Ghost Hunters or a Ghostbuster.

hey thats the page that follows mine
excellent, youve got a squishy feel to the work i dig.
i've been considering doing some watercolours and wetinks on some of my work but i havent had the chance yet, whats it like wielding those watercolours?

stalk In reply to TheBoo [2007-10-06 04:14:19 +0000 UTC]
Squishy Feel!!! I'm worried that the traditional coloring will look weak or too different compared to the digital coloring of the rest of the book.
I'm still getting a used to working with watercolors. Course I only have a cheap Crayola set but it's fun to mix up the colors and try to get the washes to do what you want. I'm going to draw up some prints for the shows coming up that I want to paint up with the watercolor set. Keep your fingers cross I don't jack 'em up too badly and I'll keep ya posted on my progress.

yeah squishy, your girls/characters arent stiff and rigid or too straight edged, their squishy, bits pop in and out with curves
dont worry about it, everybodys page will look differnt and thats the best thing, i drew mine first....and now everyones done differnt hair on Holly to me lol, but i'm not worried, i think it makes it better.
excellent i've got a couple myself i would love to try watercolours on...i'm have to print them and go mad lol

nice! i like it. don't have the money for it, but hey. what can you do...
your lineart is always good, and i like your colour style. since i don't colour, i can't really comment. maybe i should try it...inking too. that'd be a first.

I can honestly say that messing around in other media is always fun. At first I was very specific at wanting to only focus on pencilling but as I grow older my interest in other media both traditional and digital is only helping to expand my knowledge and add to my inspiration.
My advice: Do it! Grab up some brushes and inks and markers and just play around with them and see what happens.

soulfreeze In reply to stalk [2007-10-06 09:49:08 +0000 UTC]
why thank you i may just do that.
not that i have the first clue though, but i assume that that's the point.

stalk In reply to soulfreeze [2007-10-06 16:38:24 +0000 UTC]
Actually not having a clue works out better in the end because you won't have to de-program yourself in the "you can't do that with 'insert any media you like here' category" that alot of studied artists tend to struggle with. I was never formally taught how to use a brush or ink or Hell even a pencil for that matter.
Sure it shows but I keep doing it anyway.

I'm trying, every day is a new breakthrough but I don't think I have enough knowledge of color theory to pull off a whole book like this without having to do each page over at least fifteen times. Still for someone who was strictly a black & white artist this dabbling in color is both fun and re-inspiring me to play around with my supplies.
That last sentence can be read in such a wrong way and I apologize for that.

Thanks brother, coming from a talented fellow such as yourself that means alot more than any ass-kissing. Still, this is nothing compared to what someone who actually knows what they are doing can do. For now I'll just be happy with these babysteps and pray for a better tomorrow.
