Description
How I animate (and color) Sailor Moon with the GIMP program and Wacom tablet.It's about 40 minutes?.. so listen to your favorite music, take some pop corns or whatever and enjoy XD

Wow, so beautiful! <3 By the way, I'm sorry if someone's already asked this, but how do you keep the quality of your colors in the animation? Mine sort of "chops" the colors (for instance, in one animation I did, it broke up the light source into segments during the animation when it was supposed to stay smooth...)
So basically, how do you keep the colors so smooth?

I guess that's the gif's problem. It turns the image to "indexed" when saved. The only way to "fix" it is to turn your image (animation) in "indexed" before saving so that you can find an "indexed mode" that looks less ugly..(because the indexed image will never be totally "smooth") For that (in gimp) go to "Image -> Mode -> Indexed". I usually prefer to leave it at "generate optimum palette" & choose "Floyd-Steinberg (normal)" for color dithering.

here: [link] in the last picture when you save you can see that Gimp has the default "delay between frames" at 100 milliseconds (that means that after 10 frames you'll have one second.) You can change that at your liking with a little math & see how it looks ^^

Ive done all the layers so that its smoooth ish, but when i click on filters then animation then playback, it opens a new window - with nothing on it.. does that make sense? So when i click play, step, rewind, detach.. nothing happens because there isn't anything to play... if you get me?

DeviantArt doesn't accept gif files in every category so try to submit it in "Digital Art / Miscellaneous / Animation" :3 I hope this helps

You just save it as a gif.. If you're confused check up the end of this tutorial: [link] Also, turn the "image mode" in "indexed" first so you can see beforehand how the colors will look in the gif XD
