Description Sorta a series I guess you could say. This is inspired by the greed in this world, or perhaps just America. I find it sorta sad that America has alot of money whereas other countries maybe do not so. There is poverty in America and with this President it has much more chances of becoming even more prevailent. Working at the grocery store has taught me so much about humanity and moneys coexistence. I am sadly a penny collector. Pennies can add up. I am cheap because I sorta have to be. I am not rich. Many people leave their change after buying groceries, especially pennies, they do not care about the small change. Only problem is they put that money right back into the corporate grocery store. All the change adds up! But when it comes to big bills they want it all.
Other people, homeless, hungry, or third world countries, would love those added up pennies. Ask any guy standing their with a cup downtown begging for "change"
But when it comes to big bills we all get greedy. Money is what runs the world. Big money runs the people.

Great symbolic image again - good use of space. Wish the left side of the note wasn't blown out though, but it does help create contrast with the shadow on the right.

what do you mean, blown out?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RYAN99 In reply to StareDecisis [2005-01-05 18:58:04 +0000 UTC]

The white bit on the left of the note. When the area is too bright, then theres no colour/tone data there. Its like if you take a scenic photo with a sky and the bright parts of the sky come out brilliant white. If you look at some of my older shots (i.e. the ones of the factory and of the reflection and boats) then you'll see better what I mean. Sometimes it can be a result of too much contrast. As I said, it doesn't matter too much here - still a very good piece.

oh gotcha. I understand now. I wasn't sure what you meant. Thanx. It might be overcontrast, but I did that on purpose to get much more white surrounding it except the shadow below it. Ill think about that next time though

Don't mean to plague your comments section with me but: If you use photoshop or another program with similar features like 'levels' that allows you to set a 'white point', then use a white background and just play about with the white point untill you get the background fully white..... and the same for blacks and grey if you like (pretty much like changing the WB setting on your camera. I know you don't like to manipulate the photo too much, so just a tip.

Yeah I do use PS for some of it. I understand levels and stuff, Most of the background is fully white-I think?? Perhaps I am just an idiot lol.

Great job!

(I dont normaly comment on other peoples wokr but as your checking out my gallery I'll return the favor)

I like the clean and minimalist feel of this image, I'm not the kinda guy who looks for meanings behind wokr, I only look skin deep when it comes ot art but its obvious theres an underlieing meaning to this, good wokr, keep it up!

Very cool picture. It's sorta the same in Norway, we have a lot of money but the only thing we worry about is how much things cost...

I absolutly agree with you.

There is far to much greed in the world, it's like footballers and things, gaid paid a mass amount of money for what they do where as my father goes out and works as hard as he can and gets his money which he uses to help pay for food an do on, same as my mother, whereas all these footballers go of and buy flash jewelry and what have you when it could go to so much more.

lol I keep all my pennies as well, like you say, it adds up.

StareDecisis In reply to Tifasjk [2005-01-05 18:17:10 +0000 UTC]

Exactly. The lowerclass works hard for the upperclass. I always thought the football players vs the teachers was a sad story. I mean like you said they make bank, they get what they want. They get sponsors like nike and free stuff all the time. Then you have teachers someone who helps society become alot of what it is. They teach, which can be very hard considering the kids these days. And they don't make jack! Its pathetic. We care about entertainment though so we pay for it.

And you know coinstars (which take ur change) have an option to give to red cross(on some machines) If people just took 2 seconds to take their change and 2 seconds to bring the jar in to the coinstar they could at least donate it rather than giving it back to the corporate system.
