I've set myself an 'Alphabet Challenge' for 2018.
Each week I will move through the alphabet and make a piece of art related to whichever letter I have reached. It might be a tv show, film, character or ship - whatever pops into my head. Time to put you folks out of your misery with this one.
So, week 8 and we have 'H' and after having a somewhat retro time lately with 80's cartoons playing in the background, the first person that sprang to mind was Doc Terror's inept henchman, Hacker.
I loved The Centurions, one of my all time favourite animated shows. Despite the rarity of the toys, I still managed to get a complete set of the available Assault Weapon Systems and characters for my collection. Such a shame that Kenner shut down a year before the final characters and systems were released. Still, the ones I have are kick ass
Done with polychromos pencils and built up in layers, utilising my pressure application and layering techniques, the picture consists of 22 colours.
Hacker's eyes were done with white, dark sepia and black.
His eyebrows were done with black.
His mouth was done with ivory, dark sepia, black and dark red.
His skin was done with white, medium flesh, dark sepia, black and burnt siena.
His armour was done with white, light orange, scarlet red, cobalt blue greenish, caput mortuum, dark sepia, black and cold grey 5.
The target scope was done with white, scarlet red, medium flesh, light blue, caput mortuum, dark sepia, black and burnt siena.
The building in the background was done with white, light red-violet, light phthalo blue, peacock blue, manganese violet, Payne's grey, black, cold grey 2 and cold grey 5.
The cloud was done with white, ultramarine and sky blue.
The sky was done with phthalo blue.
Completion time: 2 hours 39 minutes
Original image: The Centurions episode 14: 'Double Agent'.

Apart from Clone Wars and Rebels, the last one I really enjoyed in the last decade or so was Captain Scarlet.

Well, yes the original did but I was talking about the CGI version by Anderson Studios and Foundation Imaging.
It was a nice take on the show, had some great ideas running through the show and was a lot darker than the original version.
Ran for 26 episodes and ended on a cliffhanger which was a shame as they never resolved it.

Didn't watch it.
Did not like TFA and have no interest in Disney's direction for the franchise so it's an easy miss for me.
I find the original books far more enjoyable.

It was awesome
I love the toy line for it as well. Just a shame that we didn't get the final line of weapon systems to make the set complete, well, except for Fathom Fan, they just left that out.
Jake Rockwell was my fave.

No. In this episode, his mind is switched with one of the heroes so this is really Ace in Hacker's body.
Hacker, in Ace's body, is about to kill him with a laser rifle.

Haven't had a chance to check DA in awhile because I've been busy writing my new novel, but there was something I wanted to mention about this piece and the last one you showed me. If I hadn't seen the black abd whites before hand...I'd think your work was an actual cell from the cartoon. You are that good my friend. Bravo!

No worries. I just knew there was at least one other Centurions fan out there who would get this
Thanks. Love the classic 80's animated feel to the art style. There's a distinct use of white separation lines when you look hard which I think sets it apart from modern stuff.
Meanwhile, someone better deal with hacker before he and those Doom Drones cause any more trouble.
Best of luck with your novel

Lol - so no score draw for the start then
Won't have time for the WIP game next week as we're babysitting for a few days so it will just be whatever quick pic I can do in the time.
Week after however, it's game on.

The sort of sci-fi heroes feel to the whole thing and great code-named vehicle weapons blowing up robots
In the final quarter of the series, they were joined by 2 new members, Energy Specialist Rex Charger and Infiltration Specialist John Thunder.
We didn't get GI Joe in the UK. We had Action Man / Action Force but I didn't watch those, not sci-fi enough - lol
