Description
Inspired by the Finnish production of Jekyll & Hyde, and the character of Lucy there. No references used β but I hope to draw something more accurate in the future, since Turun kaupunginteatteri's production of J&H is one of the prettiest musicals I've ever seen. The costumes and sets are gorgeous!Jekyll and Hyde is not mine

I love the way you drew the dress! The colors in the skirt, particularly.

OOOOOOoooooh so beautiful!! Great sets and costumes, and the actors sound amazing as well. To be honest, it looks much better than the touring production (now on Broadway) that I saw. Keep us updated, I'd love to see more!!

I'll post more pictures in that blog whenever more are released! Too bad if the Broadway one wasn't as pretty, though... :/

Ooh, I can't wait to see!
It was a very rock version, and they changed a lot of the music. For the most part the sets and costumes were very nice, but not gorgeous to the extent that yours are.

I wonder if two versions of this show are ever alike, music-wise especially... I saw it with friends who are really familiar with other versions, and they kept telling me the Finnish version is very different from the others they've seen...

Here's a track from the CD: VERY rock, for musical theatre. [link]

Very rock indeed, interesting! It's hard to imagine Jekyll & Hyde as a modernized version after seeing it as a period piece... Maybe the rock opera treatment works better with shows that are written in that style to begin with, like Jesus Christ Superstar or something.

The set and costume designs were very steampunky to match, so it wasn't just the music. It was certainly something different, and an interesting take on it, but I still prefer the traditional version. Maybe it does? Although I don't really like JCS because (to me anyway) it sounds like it randomly switches from a showtunes sound to rock, for no reason. And it's just weird to me. I don't know.

Love it. You're so talented! Does she really have wings in her costume on stage?
I really wish I lived near Finland so I could watch this gorgeous version of Jekyll and Hyde, the original costumes and sets on Broadway weren't really pretty. You finnish people have great taste, you can see that from great productions like Tanssi (I miss your Tanz der Vampire drawings, they are the best!), I do love non-replica productions, it kind nice to see a different interpretation.
I do love the Brazilian costumes of Jekyll and Hyde, they are great, espeacially Emma's engagement gown.
Keep drawing!
P.S: I know you don't like to watch bootlegs and prefer the stage experience live, but I think it would be really great (like awesome great) if you did a drawing of Der Tod and Elisabeth from the Original Vienna version. I really love your drawing style, wish I could draw like this.

Thanks so much for your comment!
Yep, she does! Not quite like the wings I drew here, but wings nevertheless. The real costumes can be seen from 0:45 onwards here: [link]
I think we have some gorgeous productions, too... But I guess every country has their hits and misses. My favourites, set and costume-wise, are this version of Jekyll & Hyde and the Danish production of Love Never Dies. I don't really know anything about Brazilian musicals, I guess I should look into them!
I have to think about that! I'm not very familiar with Elisabeth, so I don't know if I could do the characters justice... And, to be honest β if I ever end up drawing Elisabeth, I'll probably base that on the Finnish version... But thanks for the suggestion, nevertheless!

Thanks, Emma and Lucy are so pretty! It's kind nice to see a bald Jekyll.
Brazilian musicals are great! Unfortunately there are really few J&K avaibale to watch. Here is the awesome dress [link] the gorgeous actress is Kiara Sasso with Nando Prado, they've worked together 4 times! Kiara is like the queen of brazilian musicals, you should check out her voice, it's really pretty, she played Christine, Maria in Sound of Music, Belle in Beauty and the Beast, Donna in Mamma Mia, Jeanie in Hair, and a lot of other roles.
I haven't see much of the Finnish production of Elisabeth, there are almost nothing avaibable. I love this musical with all my heart, it's awesome, you should totally see it. I love your drawings no matter what musical it is, espeacially the ones with crazy interactions between the characters.

Wow, that dress is gorgeous! Got to love period musicals, with all the lovely costumes... Youtube searching for Kiara Sasso just now, she seems like a talented woman!
[link] β here are some photos from the Finnish Elisabeth. It's true that there's hardly anything left from it online anymore. ThΓ©rΓ¨se Karlsson, our Elisabeth, did feature in the Elisabeth 20th Anniversary Gala, though!
Heh, thanks! The crazy interaction ones are my favourites to draw, too...

She is! Kiara is my favorite musical actress. She's so lovely, a musical geek, and a workaholic (she never stops working), she loves Jekyll and Hyde, and said in an interview that the show had the best costumes she ever got to wear.
We never had a Brazilian production of Tanz der Vampire (so sad), but we do have the demos, and Kiara sings Sarah's part [link] It's gorgeous, and really significant for brazilian musical fans, since she is singing with Saulo Vasconcelos (he was her Phantom, Beast, Captain Von Trapp and Sam).
Love the photos (but really dislike Der Tod's shoes), great melting carriage! So cute the scene he's carrying her to her bed *_*

Got to love workaholic musical actors... :')
I never knew that there were Brazilian TdV demos, thanks a lot for the link! Very interesting β and wow, does she have a lovely voice... It's a shame this production didn't make it to the stage!
Heh, I think the first Der Tod photo is from the rehearsals. I don't think β and certainly hope he didn't β he wore those shoes in the actual show...

She is always on stage, besides the fact that she is also a producer and a skilled baker (she got sick during the Mamma Mia run so she learned how to make cupcakes during the time, how cute).
I love her voice, the best Christine in my opinion, and I know how much Phantom means to her and that Christine is not just a character with great songs for her. I really hope she makes to Broadway like she dreams to.
It's a pity that Tanz never made to Brazil, but I don't think the brazilian audience is ready for it, besides there would be a lot of association with Twilight (ugh!), Brazil has the biggest fan base of this story (shame). I really would hate to see stupid girls comparing Count with Edward. And I don't think Kiara would play Sarah now, she's 34 and wanting roles that doesn't exactly fit her profile, people were really cruel to her when she played Donna because she was 32 by the time, but she proved them wrong with an aclaimed performance, so.
I don't know why but Der Tod's shoes give me the idea that he is going to practice some sport (that would be fun to draw), it just doesn't fit the time, maybe he saw the future and launched the fashion. But it's probably rehearsal pictures, this shoes must be much more comfortable to work with.

Heh, a baker also? That's pretty cute indeed...
A shame about Tanz and Twilight, indeed... One never knows where it succeeds, though! Here, the theatre that did it, SeinΓ€joen kaupunginteatteri β it's a pretty small theatre pretty far from any big towns, and some thought that it wouldn't be any good. But wouldn't you know, the performances sold out! But yeah, the newest vampire craze with Twilight may affect productions of TdV. I think the German one is advertising itself with Twilight-esque posters nowadays.
Sporty Death! :')

I ship Krolock and Sarah really much like you could read in your other drawing, but the idea of an association with Edward and Bella makes me sick. I remember seing a poster subtitled his life is a curse, her love a gift, which I really disliked.
Musical theather is really an unpredictable world, so we will never know. Miss Saigon for example was supposed to be a big hit and flopped here. Somehow I thought Tanssi was like a really big production, it is so gorgeous! I wish there was more stuff of it to watch, Raili is so pretty!
Sporty Death, thinking better about it, it kind fits! He has to exercise to make his awesome moves and dramatic entrances, besides his sweetheart Elisabeth was really (like really) adept of exercising, they could go for a run or streching exercises together. XD

Yeah... I like the "his life is a curse" part a bit, it somewhat fits with the show... But the "her love a gift" thing really doesn't fit with TdV!
Also, true that, you never know what's going to be popular... Tanssi was a grand production for a small theatre, I think even us Finns were surprised when we saw what SeinΓ€joen kaupunginteatteri had done with the piece!
Haha, true! :'D
