Description
In spring, after enough rain, a certain treasure can be found in the Minnesotan forests around Alex's farm.Morel mushrooms are rare and fleeting, but they can sell for over 30 dollars a pound, which is a lot for an average preteen farm girl.
There's not much time after they sprout to find them, so with school sports and chores taking up the day, her hunting can stretch into the night.
Luckily Alex isn't afraid of anything at all, or she might find herself getting antsy walking alone in the forest at night for hours on end...
But new bike tires, a toolkit, soccer ball, paint and fishing pole will make the effort well worth it.

Was thinking (read about a women in Canada being stalked by a wolf), seeing how she is looking for threats that aren't there and getting paranoid about them, the real ones could hide in plain sight... like someone leaning against a tree on the path at an angle ready too grab her back strap and shout... "BOO, IT'S THE BOGGIEMAN! Alex I thought you were lost being late."
But yeah thinking about presumed threats (like there are much where you live, maybe wolfs or wild pigs) would blind you too real ones, accept any possible ones but don't dwell on them, they are rare compared too getting lost or cold/wet and getting hypothermia. Only know of a few pig attacks (with one death) compared too 1000's from the elements.

A coworker of mine used to pick those and sell them when he was young.
It looks like Alex has gotten quite the bounty already. Of course, a woodsgirl like her probably knows where to look.
