Description
I'm really enjoying Marvel's Secret Invasion storyline. The girl in the front is Veranke. She serves as the Queen of the Skrull empire in the Marvel Universe. She has been posing as Jessica Drew a.k.a. Spider-Woman in the Avengers for the purpose of sowing distrust and confusion amongst its members while leading an army of Skrulls to conquer the Earth.

Very gruesomely nice! Its so much devastation in one picture. I like how you portray the Skrulls, with a few looting from the dead.

Man! I haven't read Wizard in like forever! I miss the jokes only a fanboy or girl could get but I hate the way wizard has buried itself up the asses of Hollywood, the major comic book publisher and self-important writers. I remember a time when, if a title or movie sucked ass, Wizard would call you on it. Nowadays, it seems like the staff at Wizard think that every book published is the next Watchmen and every film will be the greatest movie ever.

That has got to be the most halfhearted "nooooo" for Marvel heroes I have ever seen! Lol! Anyways, this scene took place on alternate Earth 619, the earth of Doom(me, not Victor)so Tony is still alive and kicking, ready to kick Spider-woman's shapely booty! Oh,and the other skrulls, too.
p.s. Why is it that the dude Skrulls look like puke on a bad day in left out in the hot sun, while female Skrulls look like they just ate bad fish and have a bit of acne on the chin?!?

LoL, well of course I feel bad for the others, but you know Shellhead is my favorite. XD
I'm just glad Tony wasn't really a Skrull. I would have given up on Marvel forever and cursed Brian Michael Bendis with my dying breath if that had been the case.
And, I have no idea! The female skrulls are definitely more easy on the eyes, that's for sure!

I knew from th very beginning that it definitely wouldn't be Stark. That would be waaaaay to easy and predictable. And as for the decisions Tony has made, from the Illuminati leading up to Civil War and afterwards, they were unpleasant, and I disagree with a lot of them (anti-registration forever!!!) but they are exactly the moves Tony would do. This is the guy that didn't tell his best friend that he was still alive, the guy that, after deciding that he didn't like the way his tech was being used, took it all back and the guy that decided that not only did the Kree Supreme Intelligence deserve to die, but he and his colleagues were the ones that had to carry out the execution. Stark has always been a realist, not an idealist and that makes him the one that has to make the tough decisions.Although he may admire Caps idealism, people sometimes forget he isn't Cap. I hated his choices during Civil War, but the writer nailed his character.
As for the skrulls, it explains why Lyja Storm likes the humans so much!

Yeah, exactly. A lot of people didn't like Tony or his actions during Civil War, but they wrote him spot on in the story. Tony does a lot of the things that he feels HAVE to be done to make the world better--a lot of them are things that the rest of the world might hate him for, but I think that he does them because he feels that he's the only one who can; there are other superheroes that the people of the world can look up to, like the other Avengers, and Tony does the things that they can't do, even if it makes him into a "bad guy."
LoL, and yeah, that must be! I'd take Johnny Storm over a skrull any day!

StevenVnDoom In reply to marron [2008-09-19 11:24:06 +0000 UTC]
Exactly! What happened in Civil War had to happen, but I still disagree with the level it dropped it. In concept, the Super Hero Registration Act is a good idea, but, like most things, when there is a crisis, governments tend to take things to the extreme, and that is why I oppose the Act. It doesn't take into account that some people don't want to be a hero full time. The already have a job that they enjoy and they do the costumed thing because they are needed. Imagine an artist that got powers through some accident or whatever. He/she loves their job! The artist would resent being forced to do anything else. Also, the act doesn't provide protection to lower lever heroes that have family and friends that aren't part of the spandex life. Reed Richards doesn't need to worry about stuff like that cuz everybody he's knows is connected in some form to the hero life, but what about normal people, like spider-man for instance? Pretty much his entire supporting cast are targets.

marron In reply to StevenVnDoom [2008-09-19 16:27:08 +0000 UTC]
Yeah. I think that's the problem with the Registration Act, too. The idea, in theory, is good, but they really need to rethink parts of it. I think the problem is that Reed and Tony think so differently that it's hard for them to consider the things they aren't taking into consideration--like people who don't want to be superheroes, people who have other priorities in their lives, hell even the imprisoning of people without due process. Now, if Captain America had actually brought these things up and discussed them in a civilized manner instead of flying off the cuff and instigating a fight, then things might have gone a LOT better than they did.

Very true, the point you made about Cap. Unfortunately, Cap didn't have a choice in the matter as SHIELD attacked him first. In my mind, Maria Hill is t fault for the whole mess. She gave Cap the "with us, or against us" ultimatum before the act even passed and then brought in Tony to deal with Cap after the man had been made a fugitive.

marron In reply to StevenVnDoom [2008-09-19 16:40:50 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, exactly. I HATE Maria. She needs to go somewhere far away. I think if SHIELD hadn't attacked Cap before he had a chance to talk to Tony, things would have probably been different. The fact that she went after him before the Act is really foolish. The fact that they passed an Act that went into effect almost immediately after it was passed without giving the superhero community time to decide what they wanted to do and talk it out, etc, is also foolish. Then again, Bush is President in the Marvel U, and he would be likely to sign something like that without even thinking about it or considering the consequences.

Wellll... I don't hate Maria exacty. I did at first but I gave the story some thought and i'm thinking about the excellent writing and characterization. Think about it. You're a relatively young and very green SHIELD agent, thrust into to top spot, replacing a VERY popular former leader that has the respect and admiration of not only the rank and file, but the top agents themselves. This is a guy with a rep comparable to Cap himself. And she's under a tremendous amount of pressure to get everything under control. Of course she would play the tough bitch to try and hide her own insecurities. She herself realized she wasn't suited for the job and the first chance she got she passed it off to Stark.
