EDIT:PLEASE READ THE COMMENTS AS WELL!!! There are a lot of good suggestions from other crusaders on how to crush the bug we call art thieves.
I was recently asked by a new member of #Doombringers how to report images.
Instead of going into the details, I thought I would make a tutorial on how to do it for people new to deviantART who are looking to make it a better place for everyone else.
This tutorial goes over just how to report for theft, but as you can see, there are many different things on deviantART that need reporting.
If you need any help with other categories to report, please do not hesitate to ask.
If you also need to find a link to another place a deviation is posted, use TinEye to find other places that it could be posted, that way deviantART will delete the offending images.

Hi, I'd like to start off by saying thank you for posting this.
However, I found an artist who stole someone else's work, would I still be able to report it in a DMCA and not get into any kind of trouble?

serious question, hope i get an answer soon:
i did fanart, and somebody took it and traced over it and claimed it as theirs, even though it is VERY clearly mine. would i get in trouble for filling a dmca against them for it, since it's fanart? or does that just not intermingle in the whole mess, and since they traced it very obviously, they'll get in trouble for it?

I'm not a representative, but I can tell you that as long you drew it and it's your work, you can report them.

thank you! and i did just that. they had traced over my work which was originally just a sketchy doodle and also got rid of my signature too. by and by, it's taken care of for good.

I had been on the random browse when this new user sljix.deviantart.com/ was discovered with many pictures uploaded that cannot be their own (too many differences for one) though I did discover I could not submit a report to inform anyone, and original owners are hard to find. If something could be done, that would be wonderful .. it's sad to see people stolen from.

If you have permission from the original owner [and have some kind of proof], you shouldn't be reported/banned.
Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuut, dA doesn't allow just any deviant to report for art theft any more. ;c
Only the original owner can take stolen art down. They have to fill out the DMCA form people can even choose to sue.

Unless you mean that the content was yours to begin with (eg. thats your niconico acct and youre moving it to your dA acct), that's totally fine.

A whole entire oc has been stolen and was made into an entire account And is going on as if they hadn't and has openly refused to take the account down on comments made on the page. What's worse is this user has removed all art but has not removed their account. The oc was stolen from this user

Hey I know this is a bit old, But if you report it down in the below corner and file a DMCA thing, They can take it down if you show proof of your artwork and etc.

This is now out of date. It will no longer let you report the art if the art isn't yours. It just advises you to politely request they take it down.

The art in their gallery is inconsistent in skill and styles. Even though it's possible for improvement, let me prove why i believe this is art theft:
Going through their gallery, i've noticed this artist is very clever in how they word statements, never actually claiming to have drawn the art, but neither providing a disclaimer. And is also avoiding to answer questions where they are asked for materials of what was used to make their art. Sure, some people like to keep that to themselves, but i don't think this is a coincidence.
Someone else has caught them in one of the pictures in their gallery.

Almost all of this artist's gallery is stolen art. He takes screenshots of anime, traces it, and then publishes it on DeviantArt. I tried talking to him about several pieces, but he just keeps insisting that he only uses a 'reference photo' so it's not plagiarism. I've gone to an art school for 3 years now, I would be expelled if I turned in something like that. Anime IS a drawing, but he insists that what he does is not stealing. He blocked my comments and DeviantArt has ignored my reports. I need someone that will listen.
