Description

Even when I was twelve and still making fan characters... I made my own without tracing. I designed them from the ground up and I didn't need to trace over some poor animator's work.

used 2 do the same thing but jus 4 FUN. I would NEVER post it up on a website or anything, and even if i did, i still would admit that its a colour-over

Art theft is art theft no matter how much you try to doll it up.

But due to Da's ploicy, they can get away with it.

I agree with the stamp completely.
Just because you change the hair and eye color does not make it your original character.

I was like ~LeafNinjaTsunade down there; I messed around with character screenshots on paint when I was younger but never posted them.

It's really fucking annoying when people do that to animated screenshots; not only because it's unoriginal but because the colors are ridiculous. Blue hair? Pink eyes? What the fuck?

NikkiFirestarter [2009-12-24 07:36:58 +0000 UTC]

Lol, I used to draw an anime character from Naruto or w/e else in paint and mess around with the colours, changing the hair colour and the eye colour and whatever else.
But I wouldn't post them anywhere, it was all just out of random boredom.
And most of all, I wouldn't trace!

I agree completely with this.
Tracing is stupid.
It doesn't show personal talent whatsoever.
It takes no skill.

see i was one of those poor kids who didn't use the computer for art.

i looked at my manga, took a pencil and just drew.
of course my how to draw manga books helped me figure out how to proportion, but i figured out most of drawing on my own with some critiques from my mom

the closest thing ive dont to any tracing is copying (not tracing) their poses or exressions or whatever

Vyaria [2009-10-05 19:30:01 +0000 UTC]

Ugh, I don't like it when people trace and edit and claim it as their own.

I've seen many fights over things like this over dA, for example:
One person was like "This is my totally original character that I drew, please fave!" and when someone pointed out that they did trace and slightly alter the character, they started up a large arguement about how untalented the person who pointed it out is and usually after a few weeks the person who posted the trace finally added a bit of credit...

It's all really annoying.

We-Be-Cool [2009-09-27 04:55:52 +0000 UTC]

The only time I trace is when I make a cover for my school binder. Even then, at the top of my trace I have it labeled, "this is a trace. I WISH I was this good!" My friends get a kick out of it.

It seems you're anti-traced base as well. I make those, but I am learning to draw well right now, and I say that if the artist has found out I made a base of their artwork, just for them to tell me they don't want it as a base, and I'll delete it and keep it from being used again.

Diloshstar In reply to ??? [2009-04-23 16:26:21 +0000 UTC]

People should draw what they imagine first... Then recoloring official images as their original looking characters is alright. But drawing is much better!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

pink-anthony In reply to Diloshstar [2010-01-03 13:55:38 +0000 UTC]

Recolouring official images is never right. If they cant draw the character, and wont commission someone to draw it for them, then they shouldnt bother with it at all.

You are SO right. Why Sakura? Most of all, why trace? I don't think quality is the main point of art, but originality count a big part of artwork.

Awesome stamp!!! Your stamp makes such a big point, and I would use it if i could.

people trace to get better at things. they still get attention even though its NOT their own work. which is pretty stupid due to TRACING. dA is for real artists and not for cheaters.
