i fraggin love this! this shipyard could probably build the entire imperial navy from star wars all by itself! it`s also what i imagine the shipyards orbiting forge world of mars in warhammer 40k would look like!

although the graphics are good, I must point out a flaw common to most Sci-Fi outer-space ilustrations: all the spaceships point in the same direction. There is no gravity in space. There's no 'UP'.
In your particular case this is even more obvious due to the overhanging circular clamps in the docks. They seem to imply that any ship held and then released by them would dorp 'down' if its engines were off.

i think the sheer stupidity of the comment *there is no gravity in space* is enough here

Another point of view is that any human structure would necessarily be built according to a pattern that can be comfortably dealt with by any human being. There might not be an "up" in space, but the human brain would naturally want such an "up" to exist, even if we have to make it up (no pun intended). The natural position for this "up" is relative to the plane of the ecliptic, "above" the plane being "up." Then again, if the structure was of a "ring" type, completely encircling the planet, then up would be "away" from the planet and "down" towards the planet. The brain needs to set a figurative "up" and "down" in order to function.
As for the circular docking clamps, I don't see how you reckon that they imply any sort of "hanging" or "dropping." A clamp is a very efficient method of docking and lining them up on a common base ("above" them) is the most cost-effective way of building that structure. Also, imagine the mess for the pilots if those clamps were set in all different directions.

This is just ridiculous. How long did that take you? The detail alone is worth the DD.

I couldn't help but see the banter back and forth about whether this looked more Star Wars or Star Trek. That was four years ago, so I thought I'd just bring a recent resemblance to the table; Mass Effect. This definately looks Mass Effect-ish...Amazing Work!
