Description The CF-123E was developed based on the CFA-123A.  The design succeeds in making up for the CFA-123A's shortcomings as a fighter aircraft.  Due to weight reduction and streamlining, the CF-123E is faster in space and atmospheric flight.  It is also more manoeuvrable than the CFA-123A, thought it has reduced armour, fuel (endurance), and armaments.
There is also more optional equipment available for the E model than the A model, offsetting the fuel and armament reductions, and increasing speed, for a slight reduction in manoeuvrability.
Due to the parts commonality with the CFA-123A, the CF-123E was readily adopted as the main fighter, and in many squadrons, E model aircraft outnumber the A model.  Just like the A model, which was made into the two-seater B model with only a slight nose and cockpit extension, an F model was also produced as a two-sweater version of the E model with the same modifications as the B model.
The CF-123E was extremely successful in operations against the Hana.  However, as the years wore on and its main opponents shifted from Hana fighters to other CFs and TFs, this heavy fighter started to reveal the flaws that stem from the tactics of an armoured fighter taking on groups of much lighter fighter aircraft, generally with missile spamming and machine-gun sprays.  That prompted the development of such aircraft as the CF-127 Wasp and the CF-128 Tanuki DX, and saw the beginnings of the CF-123 series' shift from main fighter to more specialized roles.

Armaments:
1x dorsal/head beam gun
2x dorsal medium-bore beam guns (able to pop up and fire forward in Combatoid)
4x dorsal micro-missile launchers
2x ventral weapon pallets (5x AA missiles, or to 2x micro-missile launchers in each - front of legs in Combatoid)
2x engine nacelle side mounted weapon pallets (2x AA missiles, or to 2x micro-missile launchers in each - front of legs in Combatoid)
1x Gun Pod
6x hard points (3 per wing)
1x dorsal mounting points for a QF-301 or QF-303

Design notes:
This came to me in a flash of inspiration, and I am quite satisfied with how it turned out.  Alas, I never did get around to depicting the GERWALK form, nor doing "detail up" versions of it.
The only part of it that I'm still mulling over is the canards.  Ultimately I think I'll keep them, because the control software in the avionics is also shared between the airframes, and I figure that removing the canards would require revision to that software - thereby reducing the E model's value that comes from commonality with the A model.
