Description
EDIT: Gave it a fresh new look with new fur examples and more explanations. If someone wanted good fur results in a fast, easy way, this tutorial helps. It really is easy, ANYONE can do it.
This tutorial isn't perfect, but it can sure put your foot in the door to help you get great fur results. Fur is the hardest part of drawing any animal, but it doesn't have to be a pain.
This tutorial can be used with any paint program; GIMP, Photoshop, Painter, MS Paint, etc.. For BEST results, use a digital drawing pad. Pressure sensitivity is key.
Enjoy! ^_^

fav.me/d906t8bΒ <- I sort of emulated the long and flowy fur with my pencils in one of these fur test sketches. It's the long thin patch ofΒ brown fur.

I have no clue who those characters are. If they have fur and you decide to draw them detailed like my tutorial, then sure!

Do you start with a base colour that's considerably darker than the colour you're aiming for at the end? This is an issue for me so far..Β
And great, simple tut btw! (:

Yah I find it easier to start with a darker color and then go add on layers of lighter colors. Thanks!

The way I'd been doing fur genuinely hurt me, and this is a nice, simple way to get started in a way that doesn't seem painful! Thanks!

I usually do a separate layer over the fur, change the blending option until it looks good, depending on the color.
