Second generation because I'm gonna be designing William's parents and Linda's mom and posting that as well. Not planning on designing Jin's parents just because they don't really show up, but eh, I might as well tbh since they're important to his growth as a person. Anyway their parents will be the first generation, Cassie and Lucy being the third, and the kids they have being the fourth. And then I guess Hattie would be the 5th. Probably not how that stuff works, but I'll just do it to make things easier for me. I'm gonna have a lot of generations. owo;

Originally I was just going to have the headshots but I thought that wasn't enough, I wanted to convey more of their personalities through the little settei head shots. I'm pleased with the outcome on those, though the colored ones are kind of meh for me. I never noticed until now, but all three of them have moles in different places. I'm gonna list their story now, heheh.

William Carter was born to Gerald and Francine Carter. He moved to a small town primarily made up of Pure Amestrians when he was 6 years old in order for his parents to run an underground brothel. They managed to keep it a secret from the police for about ten years before they were taken away. They were never seen again, but they left behind a large sum of money for their only son to live off of until he could find a steady source of income. William never found out about where the money came from and what his parents did until much later in his life.

After his parents were taken away, William became more aggressive than his usual caring self and frequently got into fights in order to try to take out his anger at the world and found himself misunderstood by everyone. That is, except for Jin, who would often be the one who would patch him up after a fight. Jin was the reason why William started learning healing alchemy so that he could heal those around him instead of hurt them. In return for his constant understanding and kindness, William made him a red ribbon to hold his hair in. William found himself feeling different around Jin than anyone else, and little did he know that Jin felt the same way. Jin, however, upon coming to terms with these feelings fled to Xing out of fear in order to subdue these (what he had been raised to think of as "unnatural") feelings. He had hoped to make his parents proud by avoiding this conflict with them and his culture, but found himself alienated anyway.

William, back at home, was devastated. Jin had left nothing except for his ribbon, which pretty much told William that he would be gone forever. Linda, who had been both of their friends for just as long, was there for William and found herself understanding him more now that they had both lost someone special to them both. Her father had left her and her mother, Irene, before, so for a time she resented Jin for both making her relive those memories and for all but destroying William's confidence in himself.

Meanwhile, everyone around Wililam and Linda was getting married and having children, so them getting married seemed logical even though William is in love with Jin and Linda is asexual and aromantic. They didn't know what their sexualities really meant since no one else was like them, and they didn't know that friend love wasn't the same as sexual attraction, so when Lucy was born everything was fine. It was a societal norm for them to have kids, so they did.

By the time Cassie was born, they both knew something was wrong. It had been 6 years since they were first married and they knew they weren't as happy as they could be. William needed something that Linda didn't really want to provide, and because of that they became more distant. Soon after Linda recovered from giving birth, she left in order to travel around Amestris to find herself, causing William to mentally collapse all over again.

Jin, having been in Xing for years at this point, realizes that he truly loves William and can't live a happy life without him. He comes back to his home town to find both William and Linda gone, but since everyone knows everyone in the town he is able to find William in Central City. They reunite, confess their feelings for each other, and decide to live together and to be a family. William even gives him back his ribbon that he had been keeping the whole time he was gone, hoping he would come back. Jin helps William raise his two daughters, often times forgetting that they aren't even his own children.

Then Belle comes in. It's 1904 and it's been around 10 years since William and Jin have seen the little beansprout they knew when they were teenagers. They're years apart but they lived in the same town, and in that town everyone knew each other. They reunited and Sybelle became close again, Belle often helping them in terms of providing feedback for how to take care of two growing girls since the proud papas weren't well versed in that sort of thing.

And then, just like that, she leaves. With even less of an explanation than Linda. But just like last time William puts his girls before himself, even though on the inside he doesn't know what he's going to do and by this point has a very real fear of abandonment. Besides, he has Jin with him this time.

Years later in around 1912, Linda returns to Central. She reunites with the newly formed family, and promises that even though she will keep traveling, she'll try her best to be a part of her daughters' lives and will always love them. She does indeed keep her word, and visits the Carter household often. Soon after everyone is together again they move to Dublith, where Cassie's story really begins.

SO! Now you can understand why I'm excited to introduce Jin! He's super important in the Carter Family's story now, so yay! I present to you (who Cassie refers to as) Papa, Mama, and Baba (Baba meaning "Father" in Chinese)! I have to say I loved giving Linda an actual story and William someone to cuddle with at night. This makes all three of them so much more likeable and gives a proper reason as to why William and Linda split up in the first place.

I CAN'T WAIT TO DRAW SOME WILLJIN ART GUYS. THEY'RE SO GAY AND THEY LOVE EACH OTHER SO MUCH AND IT MAKES ME HAPPY.

Also I have some rough design concepts for Gerald, Francine and Irene so I hope to finish those up and post them! I love elaborating on Cassie's family like this, it makes me feel more happy and it gives her a lot more context in terms of how she was raised. Even though Linda came back, she still left, and as much as she hates to admit it she didn't fully forgive Linda or Belle until later.

OKAY I'M DONE DUMPING FEELS ON YOU GUYS...FOR NOW...I'm gonna go draw more things now.
