Oh..! What a beautiful drawing
Do you have any tips when it comes to colour the horse, because I think its really hard I have also big problems with the details.. I just have one (or two?) drawings at DA and they are really old
Im from Sweden and I am not so good at English xD (I use google translate xD)

Your artwork is the best I've seen on DeviantArt. And believe me, I'm seen a LOT of good artists but yours is beyond words!

*sniff* its gouergous.... see the horse I rode for like 10 yrs just past away this summer, and I didnt find ot until last week. she dies a month ago and the owners never told me.. so Im making a memory pic of dusty and I want it to be awsome..
do you remeber what brushes you used for it?
๐: 0 โฉ: 1
sunwolf29 In reply to Snowy-Brook [2009-08-23 22:28:17 +0000 UTC]
I only use a digital airbrush and change the opacity and diameter. Basically I use very very large canvases(5000 pixels+) and zoom in and pretty much use 1 pixel diameter airbrush to put the hairs on after painting the majority of it in a larger, lower opacity brush. Once you resize the picture to a normal size, the detail makes it look very realistic.
Sorry to hear about your horse. I would be heartbroken in your position.

the detail is simly incredible. It looks so... alive! how much time did it take?
๐: 0 โฉ: 1
sunwolf29 In reply to Janaita [2009-08-09 00:41:35 +0000 UTC]
I would say around 10ish hours. My schedule does not allow lots of dedicated time to drawing, so I have to break it up in blocks.
Thanks!

its so
I can see every detail!
how do you do this? coudnt do you a tutorial?
๐: 0 โฉ: 1
sunwolf29 In reply to Lubaya91 [2009-08-09 00:40:40 +0000 UTC]
Thanks! Sorry, a tutorial would not be helpful or good. All I do is zoom in and draw in the detail with an airbrush after sketching and blocking in the color. I have posted some of my work in progress' to give people an idea(look fullview) of how I work as they are staged a bit.

okay, Iยดll try it your way but i dont think it will be like yours....
how many hours are you working on one horse?
๐: 0 โฉ: 1
sunwolf29 In reply to Lubaya91 [2009-08-09 14:45:13 +0000 UTC]
I work in very large picture - 5000+ pixels, resolution at 5000 pixels/inch. When they are shrunk, they look more lifelike that way.
This horse took more than the first one, had problems so about 15 hours, give or take.

Lubaya91 In reply to sunwolf29 [2009-08-09 15:53:57 +0000 UTC]
okay... my pictures mostly only have 1200px and the resolution ist very small too...
wow... my horses only take 3 hours. Iยดm a speedpainter xD
Iยดll try to do it your way
๐: 0 โฉ: 1
sunwolf29 In reply to Lubaya91 [2009-08-09 23:48:53 +0000 UTC]
Please, do it your own way lol. There is no one way - everyone is different and has a different style and each style is as valid as the next one!

Yes I know, but iยดll try it one time
and i think this technique is to difficult for me

Wow, this is amazing! The body looks a tad long (though that might be the screen I'm looking at right now... it's not very good) but other than that, incredible!
๐: 0 โฉ: 1
sunwolf29 In reply to spirit-of-the-fire [2009-07-29 02:53:43 +0000 UTC]
I don't thinks its too long, what I think I did was shave off to many pounds from the reference(he is chunky lol) - gives an illusion of length. I might have to add a few pounds back on there lol. Thanks for pointing that out!
