Description
This is another pregnancy photo of Leigh. I had this idea of a bodyscape using her wonderful rounded contours. We shot a bunch of them, and then as she was changing poses for me, she rested for a second, and her hand fell into this position. I got her to freeze for a moment and we ended up with this.Related content

When ever the phrase "land of..." is used for metaphorical purposes, the first association triggered in my mind, is that of the maps at the beginning of the Tolkin's book The Hobbit, in particular the mountain ranges.
Here, the mountain range in the land of fantasy being the fertile curves of conception.
I think that most photography oriented deviants, would associate expert lighting with the name of `superkev , and indeed, once more the hypothesys substantiates itself.
I was particularly drawn to the calm, and harmonious atmosphere emanating from the caring embrace of the arm around the body, the alligned heights of the consecutive curves, reaching the vertical 2nd 3rd of the composition, as well as the incredibly naturally looking lighting, reminiscent of the tender morning rays.
Whether it was a consciously orchestrated detail or not, the way the light highlights the very tip of the belly , emphasizes the animate spirit of the life form from within.
What a masterful way to coreograph the pose, by mimiking the slent of the arm in the curve of the leg, and thus have them create a sense of motion, leading from the breasts (the nourishment center) to the belly (the incubation center).
All elements just welded together seemlessly.

Sooo beautiful curves, accentuated by light and shadows. Very nice capture of a pregnant woman at rest.

at first sight it looks like two persons, entwined in a way.
the title fits so well because i thought by looking at it that there are two persons on it who love each other, just at the moment creating new life.
after some moments you see that it is a pregnat woman, so it is as if you see the progress from making love and creating life to pregnancy.
wounderful use of light and curves but also lines. sensitive crop.

I fell in love with this shot the second I saw it. The perfect taughtness of the skin over her tummy, carefully protecting the precious life inside eager to burst out. I loved the way the roundness of her stomach and breasts formed such an incredible landscape of perfect femininity, which I saw in one of the other pictures from this shoot, but it's the instinctive placing of her hand that changes the tone of this particular piece to one of nurturing and motherhood. Once again you've captured the goddess in her purest form.

I am probably one of the few women in the world who does not find pregnancy beautiful in any way. I find it quite ugly in actuality.
That being said...I like this photograph.
I like it for the lighting, the emotion, the composition and the simplicity of it.

There are very few regrets taht I have from my period in the darkside (away from photography for 8 years) and one of the major ones is not capturing ~ Teekki when she was pregnant with our daughter. great work kev, simply great.

way to make something look so beautiful that sometimes women at 36 weeks find hard to see. i am sure she is thrilled and you have no idea how magical that can be for her at this time.

Oh wow. I am loving the soft light you used in this piece. Natural poses are best, I find.
Pregnancy is such a curious thing; it's also quite amazing and mysterious thing. One usually can't picture themselves having to go thorugh with such a process, but then they seem to realise that "duh, it's what we're here for, to pro-create!", ultimately adding on another branch to their family tree.
I'm tired; sorry if this comment sucked.. am going to bed now.
But like I said, this is a very wonderful piece. It's so simple and natural, yet there's so much more to it than that.
