for some reason, the shape of her lips and the elongation of her neck, she seems to be something more than human. like she's going to morph into something else any second. this isn't a bad effect, don't get me wrong! it plays on my fey loving side very much. she just seems feminine in a very exotic and dangerous sense to me. i love how her neck and head blend into the darkness behind her.

veeery carefully... hehe. actually, this was lit with a softbox behind the subject, so no light will hit the camera side of her face. it's only lit where the light wraps around her profile.

ah, i get it now...
i was wondering if the light was coming from the front, but that would have lit up so much more of her face. i must try it some day, once i get any form of lighting whatsoever. i don't even have a 'proper' flash

The lighting and title really suit this. I love how the model seems like she is just coming out of the dark into the light. It's wonderful and she is also very pretty.

Absolutely gorgeous. This is probably my favorite piece of yours hands down. And that's tough to say considering the quality of work that you've submitted over the years here at deviantART.
I believe the lighting is what I love most about this piece. There's just enough to highlight your model's curves, giving it that sensual feeling. It's so revealing, even though you barely see any of her skin. I love the way her curves work from the top to the bottom of the piece, and how only a fraction of the skin tones are seen. That and the fact that you have darkness on either side of this curve, which is just outstanding.
As far as "femininity" goes, I could tell right away that it was a woman. I think that's obvious, but it's something you might not have been able to capture considering the small frame of body you chose. However, you did manage to make it obvious, so good job by you.

Beautiful strong silhouette, another masterpiece from the King of Lighting.
Not really sure about the balance in this piece, I think the copyright really throws off the delicate balance of this shot, makes it feel too weighted.
Still, the rest of the shot is perfect, and you have my respect as a photographer.

I must say, congrats on the feature. I meant to comment on this earlier when it was on my devwatch, but I'm a lazy bastard, but now that's it's been featured, I feel like I should stop being lazy and comment. I think what I like most about this image is the subtle lighting and color in the backgrounds and shadow area.. the highlight is just amazing as well though
