Description Finally finished this picture for =Rosalaun ! It's her Welsh stallion, Akheilos, as payment for a breeding with one of her Nordy's. Thanks so much!

I enjoyed working on Akheilos, welsh section d horses are so handsome and I love the chunky pony feel. Actually liked doing the tack as well. The background I like so, so. I really wanted to do something that resembled England, since that's where I've been but by the time I came to working on it I didn't have much energy left for it. But, over all I'd say it's nice.

You're doing much better about getting the tack to really sit on and around the horse. He is a little full and roached through the loin area and you have a tendency to put the lower lip so far backwards that the horse appears to have a very bad overbite. Small quibbles, but the face especially would much improve his appearance.

I really like the background. You're getting better at them even if you're not quite happy with the results yet!

Thank you! Yeah, I do do the chin back a lot. It's because while I'm drawing it, it always looks so funny to me with it father forward, so I keep putting it back until I like it. But I will try to be more conscious of it. What does roached through the loin mean? I just wanted him happy and chunky. Thanks for all your critique!

I always find the angle of the upper and lower lips difficult in the 3/4 view. I think in the last year I've been starting to get the hang of it finally. You just need to look at more horses to correct your view of what looks "right." His chin should definitely not be completely behind his nostril.

Roached through the loin or roach backed is where the lumbar area instead of having a slightly concave curve is convex (a little hill instead of a dip). Compare his back to Chewy here: [link] notice how his back peaks above the flank area whereas hers doesn't until a little back from the point of hip? I think you get a bit lost when you add tack. It makes me think that you don't draw the structure of the horse underneath it. You have more success sometimes than others. He is nice and stocky, though!

You're most welcome!

Thanks! I enjoyed doing the tack this time around, probably because there was no rider in it. I'm glad you like it! I'll be doing the other persons nordanner next and then I will work on a breeding image! But I'm sort of a slow worker. But thank you again for the opportunity to use Luciana!
