Description
Well, so far this is the most difficult custom I've done! I'm ready to start on the next one, this one's made me eyes hurt. Any critique?Breyer Stablemate G3 Warmblood Appaloosa prepped and repainted in pastels and acrylic by me.

i honestly dont see any problems with it
its a small scale so markings are going to be hard to make look "perfect". but i think it looks great

Thank you! I have a lot more fun doing the pastels though instead of the painting-it's stressful, I don't know how you do it!

The breyer stablemate's are like $5. A customized model from an experienced artist is anywhere from $25-$100. I haven't gotten to selling them so I don't know how much I would personally charge. Usually it depends on what the requester is asking.

One day I want to start doing peoples harpg horses for them. But they would have to start out simple. I plan on doing Braydan as soon as I learn how to resculpt hair.

Hehe I could probably do them, Minx being easier of the two. If I ever open up for commission you could request that.

trying taking a sponge and pulling off as tiny chunks as you can manage and try to dry sponge the markings... might make them seem more natural and allow you to gradually build up the white for a better affect.

Thanks for the idea! I wouldn't think that would be as well controlled though. I used a very tiny liner brush and started with a watered down gray and gradually built it up. In this way I could map out the lacing exactly how I wanted it look. I prefer to use a more controllable tool than how a sponge would be but perhaps one day I would try it.

the only thing with using the brush is you can see where you brushed and built so many layers. it makes blending the white out into the speckled sabino that much more difficult. the random patterning of the brush might lend itself to a more realistic approach simply because the white on horses is a bit less controlled and more... chaotic. xD in the way of nature, chaos is order. i think what throws me off about the pattern now is that it does look so "planned". like with water colors it might be worth a show to give up a little control and let things just flow a bit.

Good job on the flecking of the sabino. You really got that down well. I think he looks very nice and I love the detail of the base coat flecking on the hooves and pasterns. Get this boy tacked!

Thanks! I still need to find some tutorials on hooves, I don't think his came out that great. But at least they are actually the right color this time. I don't have any tack!

This looks simply stunning. :3 and the sabino markings are unique, but fit well, almost like the Halloween one, but he's still really pretty. :3

Because it's NOT "pinto". Pinto is not a gene. This is Sabino and yes it certainly could show itself this way. Read up on true horse genetics.

O_o yeah... i'm aware pinto isn't a gene. the gene she is showing is sabino... which is a type of PINTO marking. other pinto markings into tobino, splash, and frame overo. So quite with the 'tude, because I know my shit. And I didn't say it couldn't look the way she showed it. I said something about it looked off, and that I couldn't place my finger on it. She asked for critique... I gave mine. So, there's no need to try and defend her. I'm not attacking her. So I'd appreciate it if you calmed your tits little miss butt in where you don't belong.
